Interesting that different CF mutations actually act differently on the cellular level. For years, it was thought that all CF people just had a faulty CFTR . As a former nutrition major, now an accountant, I know strange! I am delighted to know they have now classified the CF mutations to better understand the disease and potentially improve our lives. I was told a long time ago by my doctor that they don't fully understand the ticking time bomb of CF. Meaning, at some point the disease turns rapid and sometimes it slows down. I don't know if there is still research going on with this but the person who wrote above, could you tell us more? Thanks for sharing

I am thankful that I am healthy this Thanksgiving, and that my husband is such a good pumpkin pie maker. I loved Thanksgiving this year. My brother was able to come and our neice is having her second baby. So, exciting. I am thankful for all the good in my life and the health of my family and friends.

Yeah,
I take enzymes to but only 3 for each meal. Not to many as some people I know. Anyway, it's not abnormal to have both problems, lung and g.i. I don't know anyone who just has one issue. May I ask how old you are? Us cfers don't look our age. I'm 32 but everyone thinks I am 25. ONly blessing with CF is young looks. The body has no time to age you when it's working overtime to help you breath, digest and survive. That's my theory anyway. So, how do you start running with CF. I can do the eylptical and treadmill but never have tried to run for more than a few feet after the dog and usually can't breath for a while after wards.
Take care,
Anna

Hi, I am new to your blog. I found you through Jerry Cahill. I am inspired by your determination to have a child. My husband and I decided not to have children due to my health. Devastating but I have my neices' and nephews to play with. My doc's didn't think it would be a good idea with all my G.I and lung issues to have a child.
I have CF, and CFrelated diabetes. I have started to work out more. My main goal is to lose some fat. I know most with CF don't have this problem, but ever since I got Cf related diabetes, I have gained 12 pounds. I used to have trouble gaining weight but not since the diabetes set in 5 years ago. I was just wondering if you to have CFrelated diabetes since you want to lose weight or you just don't have the digestive issues that most CF people have. I know these questions are personal but most of my CF friends are trying to gain weight not lose it. and they are pretty open about there medical issues. We all have a shared bluntness to us don't we? I am so happy that you have great wife, as I have a great husband that supports me and my CF. Good luck with your baby girl. She is beautiful. Kudos for doing this blog and taking care of you, your wife, and baby girl!
