I live in Portland, and I am So. Damn. Tired. of talking about this election with the kind of people who just refuse to vote for Clinton. That Oregon will definitely swing blue is a small comfort.
Yeah. A friend of mine who plays the violin wrote this huge long meta, and I so wish I had xkit on my phone so I could block that one post--I am so tired of seeing her reblogs of people's reblogs with even more commentary on it.
I saw the trailer last month and was just....not impressed. I'll watch it, of course, when it airs. And I keep going to Sherlock cons, but mostly to see friends, just like I did in Seattle this last weekend.
Ooh! Their website has a nifty calculator. Thanks!
My boyfriend is the same age as my youngest brother--we're nearly six years apart. But I'm 36, so who cares??
One of my friends, who is my age, married a man nearly old enough to be her father who was also in our circle of friends. They're amazing together, and they just adopted a baby.
Lots of hostels have private rooms (with a bathroom down the hall), and a breakfast buffet of some kind, and are much, much cheaper and more centrally-located than many hotels.
But! To each their own.
I've shared beds at cons plenty of times now, but I was there for fun! And I volunteered to do it to save money! I apparently would much rather spend a whole weekend in bed with someone I only know online, than a single night with a coworker.
Well, I lie. Several of my coworkers are also nerds and have become friends and I would share a hotel room. AT A CON.
I work in a retirement home that recently had their "employee appreciation week." All of the events were during the day (many employees work evening/overnight hours). One event involved pie-throwing--pies which were baked here by our dining department, and then had to be cleaned up by housekeeping. It was mostly admin that threw pies. I think it did the opposite of what they were hoping.
I mean, I do eat beans or tofu or whatnot in pretty heavy quantities, but I also love pasta!
Thanks for the response!
I've totally been inspired by The Toast to just delete rude comments to my facebook posts. Sometimes I warn people ("I'm not here to argue about this, any comments starting something will just be deleted") and sometimes I don't. It's amazing how much this bothers some people!
