I had that problem as well. I just assumed it was just a server crash or something, with so many people trying to get on at once.

100 days in office, and I've already said "I told you so" to a number of people I associate with. I don't enjoy saying it, either. It's very bittersweet.

I'm not by any means saying that McCain would have been a whole lot better; I was personally a Huckabee supporter.

Thank you :) That means a lot to me. I'm so glad I've finally found a place where I can join forces with people who have similar views as I do that aren't my parents or over 65 years old.

Crap! Does this mean I'll have to cancel the book burning I've planned for two weeks with all my best chums? And get a refund for all the assault rifles I bought last night?

*None of the above is meant to be taken seriously, and if I offended anyone I send them my deepest regrets*

This made my whole day. As a high school student, I can totally appreciate this. I am learning math that I am sure I will never, ever use in my daily life ever again, but as taking these classes are "completely necessary" in my high school education, I sit there and learn how to differentiate and integrate equations, and how to solve for X. Hooray for education!

Education should teach practicality, not out of a textbook.

As a high school senior about to turn 18, I have spent the majority of my year following politics, more than I ever have before. I have learned how to form my own opinions about political issues, despite living in probably the most conservative county in the entire nation. I learned to find my own information without parents, teachers, commercials, or media biasing my beliefs, regardless of what their views may be. This is how I found my way to this website, and I couldn't be more supportive of it.

I have seen from personal experience that it's not just our federal government that is limiting our rights. In fact, even our local city governments are suffering from this anti-democratic epidemic.

A perfect example of this is the street construction in front of the building I work in. The citizens and businesses were allowed to vote on whether the busy street should be reconstructed with not one, but two new roundabouts. The project would cost lots of money, and there was no question that the street needed work badly, but there were other less-expensive and more practical ways to fix the street.

The citizens voted "no".
The businesses all voted "no".
But the city said, "Well, we're going to do it anyway." Thanks for throwing democracy down the toilet.

Now, two years later, I am forced to navigate around the horrible new street system that cost us taxpayers lots of money. I still get customers that ask me if there's a petition to sign about the roundabouts, even though construction is all finished. I have told them "no", but informed them that if I ever came across one I would be sure to let everyone know about it.

I thought that it was over, but it's only just beginning.

Because now, just a few miles from my house, the city I reside in is planning on doing the same exact thing at the entrances of the interstate. Another perfect example of trying to fix things that don't need fixing in the first place.

And guess what? We voted "no" again. And yet, here we are, preparing for more construction for roundabouts we neither need nor want.

Something needs to be done, and we need to start small with the cities we live in and work our way up. It's a big project, but there's enough of us to pull it off if we stick together, and we can show our government that we are capable of making our own decisions and won't stand for this crap anymore. I, for one, am tired of it.

Sounds like a plan. I have no use for attention whores that like to infuriate people they don't know, and I am happy moving on with my life in a timely matter and addressing other issues that I support :)

I've always been proud to be an American. I have always felt safe and secure knowing I live in America when other countries have not always had that priviledge.

However, if our country keeps heading in the direction that the Obama Administration is steering us...I'm so afraid of what will happen. I don't even want to think about it. He's got me frightened, and he still has 1460 days to screw us over even more. Hope you're happy and safe, Mr. President, because I'm not.

Agreed! And when I feel in the charitable mood, I will give my money to who I feel deserves it, not who the government feels should get it. That's what charity is about, isn't it? Supporting a cause you believe in?

You don't have to be a Glenn Beck supporter to be on this website, but just a little rant:

Why is it that Glenn Beck is always attacked by people who claim he is lying or promoting terrorism? I don't agree with everything he says, because (gasp!) I have my own opinions, but I applaud him for stating his opinions and trying to bring the truth to Americans that are willing to go out and seek it. His voice doesn't extend to the people who blindly accept what's in front of them without any thought.

The government, in the meantime, is constantly covering itself up and finding clever and "expressive" ways to NOT tell us what's really going on. They say one thing, but mean another. They say something to one person, and something different to another. They cheat on their taxes and leave the loyal but grumbling taxpayers in our country to pick up the slack.

To be fair, not everyone in our government is a villain, of course; but there are so many bad apples that they give the rest of them a bad name. As a U.S. democracy, don't we have the right to know what the people we've put in power are doing to "help" us and get us out of this recession as smoothly as possible and with our dignities intact?

So who is (or are) the real liar(s) here? Is it fair to point our fingers at people in the media, in the newsrooms, who actually dedicate themselves to bringing the truth out in the open and bring stories people will actually pay attention to? True, there are some that bring bias and play the "blame" game, we can't fix that. But I applaud broadcasts that lay it all out for the willing population to see and make their own decisions.

I guess the real moral of the story is: if you don't like what some particular person or newsgroup is saying, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WATCH IT. And you don't have to like Glenn Beck, either. This site is not about him; it's about the values and principles that our government seems to have forgotten in their thirst for money and power, the views in our Constitution that guided our ancestors and has led to the America that we know today - which, I hope, will not be tarnished any further by the acts of our elected officials.
