Yes! Bought my boyfriend's ticket to London for mid-June! My aunt is getting married and they bumped up the wedding date by ~15 months due to elderly relatives so it has been a scramble to figure out flights and hotels etc. but now it is all arranged! (I got my ticket last month, we were just waiting on vacation approval from his work before buying his flight.)

A lightweight iron-on interfacing is what you need! Any big fabric store will have this, it won't be too expensive, and it will be worth it. It will make the shirt fabrics less stretchy and give them some stability for while you are sewing and longevity after.

Different size blocks will be more difficult to piece together (more wonky seams) but if you can figure out the largest size you want a block to be and then cut up the shirts to fit within that it will be easier. Like this if each colour is a different piece of shirt.
