In 5 words:

Because: our infrastructure cannot handle it.

you mean the whopping $165,000 that we will be receiving after the hotel is built? Yeah, that's going to address the additional burden on our infrastructure from 350 more toilets/showers/sinks.....NOT. understand that the 1MM that was in the original plan goes to fixing the infrastructure that benefits the Hilton, not Hoboken.

Saw the most laughable email from the Mayor today. He is asking the community to ask the city council to put politics aside and vote 'yes'.

Could ANYTHING possibly more political than this Redevelopment Agreement? It's a million dollar vote buy! Thought we hated vote buying in Hoboken.

The subcommittee deserves the support and thanks from every resident of Hoboken. They are stepping in to ensure that all needs of the community are fully considered. It's been disappointing to see how residents that pride themselves on being so "progressive" so readily and easily will turn a blind eye to the brutal and continuing displacement that has been ignored for decades, nor do they demonstrate any concern for the city's desperate need to address our failing infrastructure....particularly in light of 300 more showers, 300 more toilets, laundry, cooking and all the other ways the hotel will tax our infrastructure.

Bravo council subcommittee. I'm sure you will be attacked and ravaged for living up to your responsibility but, rest assured this is the right thing to do.

Actually, it appears that what the government is here for these days is to hand over funds to wealthy private organizations.

You are presuming that everyone that visits Hoboken is staying longer than 4 hours. Non-wired people come here to go out to lunch or dinner or spend the afternoon with friends and family. They've NEVER had to go down to city hall and get a hang tag.

presuming someone has the time to go over to city hall and the visit is happening on a weekday, that's, at least, a partial band-aid, but it really isn't "problem solved".

I don't usually respond to idiotic comments, but I can't resist. If mad cow had broken out and they didn't take appropriate steps, that might be an issue.

Then we would really be treating certain citizens differently than others, or, in other words "some" (even most, perhaps) citizens of Hoboken benefit from this rule. But, others are left behind.

I'm not saying it's not a good thing in a vacuum. What I'm saying is that our elected officials have a responsibility to ensure that no one gets left behind as technology advances. Society is in an interesting place with advancing technology which presents some new challenges everywhere & in all likelihood for the first time. Important to address (or attempt to) address both the big picture and the small details.
