Why should this surprise anyone? There is nothing worse than Catholics who actively persecute the Church. History is replete with examples. See 1930s Germany and 1950s Russia.

Of course, if we stopped burning corn as fuel (and making automobiles less efficient), then there would be more corn to feed to animals and we'd have less expensive food.

The contradictory moral teachings on the Protestant Churches are indeed a shambles by virtue of the very fact they are contradictory, not to mention some their explicit support of abortion and embryonic stem cell research (a.k.a. human experimentation).
