People just don't realize that it wasn't "god" who put us at the top of the food chain. It was just a lucky combination of events. Bipedalism lead to free hands, that lead to tool making, that lead to meat eating, that lead to bigger brains, that lead to language, that lead to cooperation, that lead people to forget why they belong at the top of the food chain; because they are one of the weakest animals on the planet! Must be an invisible sky daddy is helping us out! The odds of us making it this far are astronomical and we are smart enough to know that. We just ain't smart enough to believe it all happened by chance.

We may be the only life in the universe with the ability to marvel. If the god of the bible were real ( along with his egocentric love craving personality) every planet would be loaded with creatures, marveling at the wonder of it all! oooh! ahhh!
Nope; just us with our invisible pink unicorns.

The meaning of life is life. Life is the ultimate purpose of life and life is the reason for life. What more meaning do you need? Life is the exclusive domain of the living and nobody gets out alive so, live long and peaceful lives while you can. I can't understand people that must have some cosmic meaning to their lives. I think there is something inherently wrong with someone who can't find purpose. I can't imagine my life having so little purpose that I need to join a cult or religious group to fill the void.

No if they meant that we should revere or be reverent towards god, I'm sure they would have used those words. The word reverence is repeated in the Bible alot! but the word used is fear. Just like in these two passages:

Psalm 89:7
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.
Psalm 89:6-8 (in Context) Psalm 89 (Whole Chapter)

Hebrews 12:28
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear
These two excerpts clearly show that this "fear" is seperate from reverence and not the same in meaning.

do I have reverence for the atom bomb? Absolutely. Do I fear the atom bomb? You're damn right I do! but, if the atom bomb was a daisy in a field there would be no fear and without the fear there would be no reverence.

God wants us to fear and love him but says that there is no fear in love so, we are doomed to fail! for if we truly love him and there is no fear in love then we have failed to fear him.

It's funny how god has to kill himself before he can forgive us. Sounds a little masochistic don'tcha think?

The real question is; why would a god do anything? If all is known future and past; the outcome of any action taken is already known. What then would be the point of doing anything?
