Loved reading this. I lived on the corner of Royal and St. Peter in 2004, in a third-floor apartment that had a dining room with a domed ceiling, which by some strange acoustic trick allowed us to occasionally hear tour guides (and other conversations) down on the street as though they were in the room with us. I wonder if I ever heard you, Sara!

(Incidentally, the building I lived in appeared in a George Washington Cable story, "Sieur George.")

I thought I heard "Ambergris" just this morning. Which delighted the skulking-around-whaling-museums-adolescent that lives inside me, but still.

I can't recall if I've ever pretended to read books I haven't, but I definitely pretend not to have seen movies that I have. Mainly just to fuck with people. (and by "people" I usually mean Star Wars fans.)

Jeez, he doesn't have to jump off a bridge. Just maybe never write another word about a woman ever again.
