Nina Ashford is the typical victim industry advocate getting her 15 minutes because this issue makes money for people like her. The registry is the cluster-you-know-what that it is because of revenge driven "victims' rights" groups like herself. They blind people with their emotional veils ("support us or you're pro-pedo"). So no one dares questionwhy the NCMEC pushes the federal Adam Walsh Act so much. Perhaps it is because the NCMEC gets a share of ALL funds for that bad law.

The registry is a cash cow and nothing else. It should be abolished.

There are a lot of problems with Chelsea's Law that will cause more harm than good.

As usual, the comments section is filled with people who do not understand anything at all about what they are talking about.

there is a reason the state of Washington should not impose residency restriction laws anyways. You simply have to look at another state that has recently repealed their residency restrictions after they determined the laws were actually making things worse and not better.

In 2005, Iowa past what was at the time, the most restrictive sex offender laws in the country. Practically the entire state was off limits to those on the registry. What they found was that it increased homelessness four times over, many more failed to register, and sex crime rates actually increased. In 2009, Iowa repealed residency restrictions for most people on the registry because they determined that it was better for them to have a place to live and be monitored them to not be allowed to live in an area legally.

Considering recidivism rates are extremely low, no matter what certain people try to claim. The fact remains the vast majority of those on the list do not reoffend, and that is a fact that his predated any of the current sex offender legislation. In addition, the vast majority of individuals arrested for sex crimes in any given year are first-time offenders, so by relying on the registry, you are blinded to the real dangers out there.

oh look, it is a member of absolute zero, the same morons that went around the Internet claiming Patty Wetterling had a sex offender son. This group is full of idiots and has two active members who are on the registry themselves.

This judge is stupid because virtual blanket bans also ban other uses for FB like commenting on facebook only media pages. I'm surprised this site doesn't have that option.

PS: In the interest of fairness, this liar should have her face plastered on the internet so we can decide whether we want her in our neighborhoods or whether we can trust her. This innocent man was going to have to register.

Cases like this exemplify what is wrong with the feminist-controlled legal system. Men are automatically assumed guilty any time they are accused of a sex crime, and many are convicted on a he-said-she-said with no evidence. Our system was originally set up under the principle that it would be better to let a guilty man go free than to condemn an innocent man. In practice, the system does the opposite. This girl should serve time for lying to get an innocent man imprisoned. How can a blatant false allegation go unpunished? This man should sue the prosecuting scumbag who was more concerned with a victory than finding the truth.

This article is flat wrong. Appealing to emotion, inflated stats, and catering to extreme feminism does not make an accurate article.

12 years ago @ Commentary Magazine - Why is Leahy Blocking ... · 2 replies · +5 points

The problem with this article is it is already relying on two logical fallacies to come to it's conclusion.

The first fallacy is it is relying on a report of a report rather than fact checking. "I heard sex offenders have the highest recidivism rate, there fore they do." That is wrong, because even the longest long-term studies have found long term re-offense rates have given consistently low numbers (2-10%), far lower than any other crime type.

The second is appealing to emotion. I can argue Sandra Cantu. Remember her? The little girl killed by a female Sunday School teacher who had no prior record? How would this bill have saved Sandra?

These laws are field dressing and nothing more.

Why don't we just harvest your organs instead? All except your brain, it obviously doesn't work.
