Granted, what Hanks said was poorly phrased and unwise, but you have to admit something:
To deny that there was a racial component in the Pacific War and just how brutal it got on both sides is either viewing the "Greatest Generation" through rose-colored glasses or being willfully blind and deaf.

Come on: Did you EVER hear about soldiers cutting off the heads of deceased Germans and sending their skulls home as trophies? This is even with the Black Legend that the British had ascribed to them for decades by then.

I have a solution/potential counterweight to any problems the Chinese may see fit to make, but I don't think many here will like it:

Three words: Imperial Japanese Army/Navy. Bring them back and throw in an actual air force for good measure.

The jihadi was an Albanian Muslim born to parents taking part in the Mohammedan occupation of Kosovo, not a German.
