I compared the beliefs of some fundamentalist Christians to those of fundamentalist Islam, and your claims of "propaganda, vitriol and idiocy" does not change the fact that there are similarities, specifically in the prejudice against gay people, but also in some of their attitudes toward women.

The US domestic terrorist who murders doctors is no different than any other terrorist who seeks to impose his religious beliefs on others.

They are both prejudiced against gay people, that is the comparison. Same ideology, the only difference is the extent they will go (or can go) to enforce their prejudice. There are many people in the US who claim we are a "Christian nation" and would enforce the laws of their particular version of Christianity if they could. So it's nonsense to claim there is no comparison in fundamentalist ideologies.

She was protesting the destination of the march, not picketing the Flat Irons Church. Are you suggesting she should? But you've made a good point that the Flat Irons Church and Islam are both prejudiced against gay people. In general you will find many similarities between fundamentalist Christians and fundamentalist Muslims. They share many of the same Prophets and ideology.

@ Gene. MLK's entire mission was to "manipulate the majority in the pursuit of tolerance". You are condemning MLK and the people who continue to pursue his dream.

It's amazing how so many people continue to be blind to the effects of prejudice and bigotry. A better outcome would have been for the Mega church to decide to be inclusive of all loving families. Hopefully this incident opens their eyes and their hearts.

Diliwar was tortured and murdered by US Military Intelligence interrogators, which shows that our program of torture was more extensive than that carried out by the CIA. And you can be sure that information included in the Senate report does not fully disclose the crimes that we committed. The CIA did their best to interfere with the report, including hiding and destroying evidence.

We need to take responsibility for the fact that we committed crimes against humanity, and we need to compensate the victims (or their surviving families). If we fail to do this, and if we continue to support torture (as Cheney does) it creates the perception that we are no different and no better than the people we are fighting against.

More than one prisoner died while being tortured. The case of Dilawar was widely reported in 2004-2005, and anyone who cared to know was aware that we were torturing people to death even then. You should be able to see the difference between a US Marine who volunteers for service and is waterboarded as part of his training, versus a prisoner who is being waterboarded as systematic program of long term torture with no hope of ever being released.

Some of the guards who tortured Diliwar to death believed he was innocent and continued the torture a anyway. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dilawar_%28torture_v...

A 9/11 widow was interviewed in CNN today about the torture revelations, and she began her justification of torture by saying: "You have to realize we are facing a completely amoral enemy. " Wow, We have state sponsored torture, at least half of our citizens think that's great, and we accuse others of being amoral?

We tortured to death people who were innocent. We tortured innocent people, held them in solitary confined for years, then we acknowledged it was all a mistake and released them, but we refuse to provide any compensation, not even an apology, because it would reveal "state secrets". The fact that a majority of American support this shows that the terrorists have already won. Morally we are no better than the people we are fighting.

"I do not agree that any of these acts are torture."

How about the people who we tortured to death? Was that torture or just murder? Prevented from sleeping for 180 hours, beaten, stripped naked in a cell with no heat, and finally allowed to freeze to death. Is that how we train our troops?

I already pay into a road maintenance organization to maintain the road that serves my subdivision. I would rather not use my open space tax dollars to pay for road maintenance in your subdivision. Set up your own road maintenance organization and stop asking the rest of us to pay for roads that were primarily built to serve new subdivisions in rural areas. And if you are opposed to preserving open space, consider moving to southern CA where they have great roads, lots of sprawl and no open space.

It is a public park - it sounds like you don't want people to use the park. Disc golf baskets are very low impact. Are there any uses of the public park that you would accept? I'm curious to know what the the top 20 items were, and if people would object to others on the list. I would love to have a disc golf course a short walk from my home. I would use the park more.
