Our Lord and God we are so very grateful for all we have received through Your eternal love for us. We are especially grateful for the light of the world, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who through His life and sacrifice showed the way to our Founding Fathers. We come before Your throne today united in humble prayer for our beloved United States of America. An evil darkness has encroached upon this world and our land as many of this world including Americans have forsaken You and begun worshiping the false gods of materialism and flesh. Forgive us Lord and help us to carry Your renewing light into our nation for the revival of our land. Help us shine this loving light in our land so more Americans will see and understand and evil will have no choice but to flee our land. Help us Lord to open the eyes of our citizens so more Americans will be aware of the assault on OUR inspired Constitution and be ready to defend it against all enemies. Lord we pray for Your peace to fill all of us as we place our trust in You for a revived United States of America. We offer this prayer in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ….Amen

Thank you for contacting me regarding Sections 1031 and 1032 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA; S. 1253). I appreciate your concerns, and I welcome the opportunity to respond.
As you know, the United States Armed Forces are authorized to detain covered persons captured in the course of hostilities authorized by the Authorization for Use of Military Force (P.L. 107-40) as unprivileged enemy belligerents pending disposition under the law of war. A covered person is any individual who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001, or harbored those responsible for those attacks. Additionally, covered persons include an individual who was a part of, or substantially supported, al Qaeda, the Taliban, or associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners, including any person who has committed a belligerent act or has directly supported such hostilities in aid of such enemy forces. The authority to detain a person under this provision, however, does not extend to the detention of citizens or lawful resident aliens of the United States on the basis of conduct taking place within the United States, except to the extent permitted by the Constitution.
Sections 1031 and 1032 of the NDAA were adopted by the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) in a 25-1 vote in a package of amendments intended to update and clarify the authority of the U.S. Armed Forces to detain unprivileged enemy belligerents established under the Authorization for Use of Military Force. These provisions reflect the view of the majority of SASC members that our military should continue to exercise its authority to detain unprivileged enemy belligerents and that members of al Qaeda or affiliated entities who have been involved with planning or carrying out an attack or attempted attack against the United States or its coalition partners should be subject to military detention pending disposition under the law of war.
I continue to believe that military detention and prosecution under the authorities established in the Military Commissions Act are the most effective means to safeguard our country against those who would do us harm. This is why I supported these provisions of the NDAA in committee and will endeavor to uphold them when this bill is debated by the full Senate.
At this time, S. 1253 has been placed on the Senate Legislative Calendar. Please be assured I will keep your thoughts in mind when this legislation comes to a vote before the Senate. To keep track of further developments on this legislation, you can click on the "Track a Bill" button at http://lieberman.senate.gov/.
Thank you again for sharing your views and concerns with me. I hope you will continue to visit http://lieberman.senate.gov for updated news about my work on behalf of Connecticut and the nation. Please contact me if you have any additional questions or comments about our work in Congress.
Sincerely,
Joseph I. Lieberman

We praise you Lord and thank you for our nation and our life under Your Grace and blessings. We especially are thankful today for the many American veterans who served our nation and through their service have allowed our people to live in freedom and liberty. We pray that each and every one of them will understand how much they are appreciated and how important their service is to the freedom we enjoy today. We ask for Your guidance and help so each of us may better understand and follow Your will for our life and be more effective in opening the eyes of those who do not yet see…In Jesus’ name we pray….Amen

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice. Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus....Amen
