The loss of newspapers will be a problem in the future for students needing to write research papers where internet sources are forbidden...lol.

Well I vote in PA, so if, when Nov 2010 rolls around, the ticket shows Specter vs Matthews I am voting for Matthews.

Everyone thinks that Specter is this great moderate GOP superhero...who goes against his party...Pish posh. 1) he is more interested in legislation to protect his sporting interests (Eagles and the NFL, Phillies and MLB, etc.) which is why he has some level of notoriety in Philly, 2) everything he comes out as progressive on he just returns to his wingnut old self when voting (see the FISA bill, for example...he came out against it, then voted for it).
Hey, considering Casey is pro-Life as a Dem, its nice to have the GOP'er be pro-choice to counter, but I would rather have him be a bit more liberal on the tough social issues like torture, wiretapping, etc.

All things being equal, the senate always can use some fresh blood. Its nice to see old farts get booted from the Senate in favor of new blood...and Specter is very old blood.
Sure, Santorum wasn't old blood...just, he was a loony wingnut.

Wow, what a joke. I don't think Coleman understands that in the MN paper ballot system there is no party line button or lever or whatever. Each voter actually has to choose a candidate for each elected office. I think people who chose McCain and Franken did so on their own volition with proper intent...ya know, if Franken was the top circle (which is where McCain was) then I could see a possible argument that the voter just filled in the top circle for every office without reading the representing party, but Barkley was the top circle.

Sen. Dick Dorgan (ND) has come out against Lieberman regarding his committee chair. However he has said that he doesnt think he should lose his caucus status.

So make that 3 Senators (Leahy, Sanders, Dorgan) who have publicly come out against Lieberman holding his chair, 2 for (Dodd, Bayh). 44 without public comments, 43 if you don't include Biden.

I'd say its 4 against, but its hard to gauge Senator Reid's comments...it seems he is leaning towards removing him from the chair.

Im guessing they are going to hold two votes:
1) Keep him in the caucus
2) Keep him in the committee chair

im not surprised it is a secret vote...i was actually expecting it. I dont think any of the senators wanted to jeopardize their chances of having Sen. Lieberman campaign for them. Haha.

Yes they have.

Sanders and Leahy have asked for reprocussions.
Dodd and Bayh have said its a bad idea.

Hell, Bayh was saying stuff like "OMG he might resign from the senate!!!" He was on Maddow saying that for that matter.

Just search google news for those senators. They have all come out and said something negative or positive, which is why I listed only those four names. I haven't heard anything from any other democratic senators (other than now former Senator Obama saying he supports Lieberman, btu he doesnt count anymore, and Senator Reid talking about how he has had meetings with Joe).

Apparently, according to DailyKos, under 0.50% means the state pays for a recount. Above 0.50% means the challenging party pays, assuming they want to pay for it.

I think that a recount can be done in any case (0.01% lead, or 100% lead), I think it just all depends on who pays for it and whether it is really logical.

Its a difference of 0.36%...
47.40%
47.04%

He needs to get that above 0.50% to avoid a recount, right?
