Public support for expanded domestic production remains strong, and last fall Congress ended the decades-long prohibition on offshore development in the Atlantic and Pacific. But now, the Obama Administration and congressional leaders have taken actions and made proposals that will:

Sacrifice American jobs;
Block domestic production;
Make U.S. companies less competitive; and
Make our nation even more dependent on foreign sources of oil and natural gas.
In addition, the Obama Administration's recent budget proposal would impose as much as $400 billion in tax hikes on the industry; new taxes that could extend the recession or even depress job creation.
