My suggestion is that a determination be made concerning which type of mail has the most demand for delivery. During this day and age of computer use I feel sure this is information is readily available. Following that determination, increase the postal rates on that type of mail. If the increased rates reduce the amount of that type of mail to be delivered, or demand of labor decreases, based upon the higher postal rates, then reduce the number of postal employees proportionally. Lets get back to supply and demand economics. This "live and breathe" principle (i.e., I live and breathe, thus I deserve) is killing our nation.
Addtionally, if we can reduce the amount of junk mail we can also make a positive evironmental impact by reducing the amount of paper and ink used as well as the amount of energy wasted during the printing and delivery of the "junk mail".

Each day 80-90% of the mail delivered to both my home and my small business post office box is "junk mail". I throw most of it directly into the trash bin without ever opening the envelopes or reading the papers, magazines, cards, or flyers.
I recognize is that we have high paid U.S. government post office employees that receive government benefits, including each and every big and small holidays off, and government pension plans once they accrue a set number of years working at the post office. The problem with these employees is not them. The problem is that we have high associated mail delivery costs to deliver mail that has minimal mail rates. Its not necessarily the benefits paid are a problem by themselves. It is that the mail that is being delivered does not have a high enough postal rate.

So, I am preparing to send tea bags to the South Carolina congressmen and the White House because their addresses are readily available. Does anyone have information of other state's "snail mail" addresses without having to click on each state. I have tried that way but I cannot get the addresses because I have to put in my SC zip code and then it kicks me back to my SC information.
