I can see a lot of people who assume that he is, likely because it fits the narrative I warn you about in this article, but nothing authoritative or even sourced. His middle name is Ethiopian and it means 'lucky' or 'blessed', and his first name is biblical, a variant on the spelling of 'Ephraim': Ephraim was a son of Joseph (of Technicolor Dreamcoat fame) and ancestor of the Tribe of Ephraim (one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel). So it is very likely he was at least born into a Christian family. Just to inform you. Oh, and I also found this:

I would ask you again to look at the components of the story that have been invented, because the shape of the false information tells you something about the intentions of those who wrote this fiction in order to deceive you: he is not a 'Muslim refugee', but someone out there wants you to believe that he is. You should ask yourself why.
