That is an interesting assumption. I would do what it took to get a predator off of someone, child or not. I would expect to be charged and held for my actions. I would also expect those charges to be dropped.

It was Mike Myers that forced the producers of Bond to re-think the character. His parody, Austin Powers, put Bond in the position to get serious or die at the box office. I believe they have succeeded. The intro alone in Quantum of Solace, with Chris Cornell's amazing, tense vocal and the lack of naked, silhouetted woman let us know we were in for something different and serious.
