Oldjarheadbiker, overall I agree with your assessment of religion. However, I do believe in God. But then again, I don't believe in religion either. I do believe that Jesus did die to pay for the sins of the world. (Yes, that means I am a Christian.) I am no theologian, but I cannot find anywhere in the Bible where it says that a person must follow the teachings of other men to go to heaven or anything else in relation to the principles of God. The Bible does say that the laws of God are written on the heart. That being the case, we already know to not commit crimes against others. That would include forcing others to worship in any religion or to not be able to worship. Besides, how can you force a person to have faith?

Just as a side note, I believe there is a God, in part, because of science. If a person looks at the complexities of the universe, or even of a single cell one knows that it could not have happened by chance. An excellent source for such information is Dr. Hugh Ross at http://www.reasons.org/ . Dr. Ross has written many books and has made a good number of videos exploring various topics in science. I have seen him give explanations about 'miracles' and scientific principles found in the Bible that are amazing.

As to the topic that started this, that being Islam, it seems as if you have done your homework on this subject. I have read the Koran several times. This is a tedious task, as anyone who has read it would know. I have also read many books by both Muslims and Christians about Islam. Some of their arguments go over each others heads. But if one just were to take even what is agreed upon, Islam is a totalitarian political-cult system. Mohamed made sure his followers' had little time to do anything be what he wanted them to do.

As to B.O. being a Muslim I would say he is more of a socialist/progressive than anything else. His influences were socialists/progressives. He even sought out socialists/progressives when trying to get his political career started. If you are interested, and have not read them, check out the series called 'The Audacity of Socialism' at Investors' Business Daily. There are 21 articles to read giving the best information about B.O. that I have seen. Here is the link to the series: http://www.ibdeditorials.com/series8.aspx

If you take a look at the crime rates in England, the same, maybe even worse has happened there as it did in Australia. The effects of "gun control" has done much damage to their society. To read an excellent article on what has happened in England as a result of banning firearms check out this article at the secondamendmentlibrary.com, written be Joyce Lee Malcolm called - 'Gun Control In England: The Tarnished Gold Standard.

I find it interesting to see how progressives distort things. Yes, there have been many wrongs committed in this country against many different peoples. However, in most, if not all cases progressives take these things out of context. If the laws had been enforced EQUALLY when these things happened then these wrongs would have been stopped then, when it would have mattered. The call for a more powerful government is NOT the answer. A more powerful government does not give a more just and moral government. In fact, it would and does lead to a more a more corrupt government.

As I once pointed out to a self-described liberal, they are they are often inherently bigoted. Many liberals and progressives view those who want a small government (conservatives) as being racists. This is of course nonsense, but it also means that those who think this are themselves bigots. To have a preconceived (and completely irrational) notion about the beliefs of those who want small government makes those persons bigots. As I pointed out to the person I debated on this the only difference was the target of hostility. Many progressives despise "conservatives" because of this issue, even though they have no rational reason to believe that conservatives are racists. Remember that racism is a primary issue for liberals. So, their intolerance against others in regard to this is not acceptable.

One more thing to remember, our system of government, as it was intended to be, gives a way to for the people make corrections when that government goes off course. The progressives give the power to the government so the people can't have the power to change the course the government follows. No matter how bad it gets.

You have made an excellent point about the choice of words used to describe what we should do. When talking of regaining power the power to regained is over our own lives. The power a government should have is only the power needed for it to do those few things it has to do in order for a society to exist and function. By that, I am saying a few things such as, providing a military, building roads and that type of thing. In other words, it is basically those things that are enumerated in the Constitution, Article 1 Section 8. It is important to keep in mind that even that has been twisted so as to allow the government to step in and control things they are not allowed to have any part in. A good example is the 'commerce clause', which is now used as an excuse to allow the government to step in and control much of the economy.

Fredrick Bastiat stated in his book, "The Law" what the source of our freedom is. And that would be:

"Each of us has a natural right—from God—to defend his person, his liberty, and his property. These are the three basic requirements of life, and the preservation of any one of them is completely dependent upon the preservation of the other two. For what are our faculties but the extension of our individuality? And what is property but an extension of our faculties?"

Stated another way we have the right to life, liberty and property. Along with that right is our responsibility to do what we can to live that life. To turn that around, no one has the right to make us to work to provide for others, because each person's work and what is earned belongs to the person who earns it. That makes slavery in any form immoral. With that in mind, the proper role of government is to keep one's life, liberty and property secure. This security would include foreign threats as well. Add to that the few NECESSARY things for a government to do. That would include only a few things such as building roads (after all it is impossible to build a road without crossing property) that enable a modern society to exist. (And that does not include "healthcare".)

The progressives have manipulated words so they can gain power. Words are also used as a weapon against those who stand in the way of the progressives. For example, if a progressive is protesting in some way that person is called an "activist', but if that person were a conservative then the word "extremist" would be used. It is very important to fully explain what is meant when talking about freedom and government. Just as important is knowing just what is meant by progressives when they use words as a manipulative tool.

You are saying it right again. There is no need to argue about any particular issue without first having the power to change things. I realize that we cannot allow this great nation to slip any further than it has. It is under constant assult from the radicals. However, they have not gotten us to the point where we are overnight. It took them over a hundred years. It will take those who believe in this country as it was founded a while to set things right. The hearts and minds of the American people will have to be changed by showing them the truth as to what freedom really is.

People need to understand that the so-called progressives are not offering anything else but a form of slavery. The progressives are wanting to have power over others. They are wanting to tell us what healthcare we can have, what we can eat, how much and what kind of energy we can use and so on. Once people understand this they will choose freedom over the control over them by the progressives.

Finally, someone who understands that the federal government has too much power. I started to wonder if anyone else had gotten that anymore. It goes back to the saying, 'Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity'. You cannot expect the government to fix the problem, because they will just keep doing the same things to try to solve it.

So many have posted things saying we need to do this or that, but they are not grounded in the principles and values. They go off on some rant about something that has little or nothing to do with the 9/12 project. I am sick of people pointing to some video on youtube to watch about some conspiracy theory. A main reason some people are so much more successful than others is they are able to stay focused on the objective. There is a reason that "The 5000 Year Leap" was recomended as the first book to read. For those who don't know about the founding of this country it gives you the understanding about it you need. So, now with that in mind, How do we get back to the values and principles this country was founded upon? I rarely see anything on this site about that.

The Republican Party has been liberal since it's founding. You are wasting your time! By 'taking it back' you will be going in a circle.

Today, April 22 is Earth Day. It just also happens to be the birthday of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, known to history as Lenin. Yes, that's right it is Lenin's birthday too. A coincidence perhaps? I think not. You can read about it in this article at FrontPageMag:

I see a great need to provide a source of good information about President Obama. There is much to know about him that many don't know, and along with that is a great deal of misinformation. Investor's Business Daily has done an impeccable job of detailing his past. The series is called, "The Audacity of Socialism". There are 21 articles to read. I am giving this information so as to provide a way for some to avoid going off onto some conspiracy theory. Also, supporting or opposing someone you should know what you can about him. Think link to these articles is below, or you can search for 'The Audacity of Socialism' and you should be able to find it easily.
