it's not section 8. But it is poplular with college students and short term workers in the QC's.

The davenport police used to stake it out and bust the residents for not having Iowa plates on their cars.

This is just lip service to the christian conservatives to get their votes. If the republicans didn't try to ban abortion and ban gay marriage, the christian minority would not even bother to go to the polls. Many republicans would not get voted in to office with out them and they know it. But where else can the christians go.

Deep down, real republicans are not opposed to abortion. Ban abortions and you would have many more poor people on welfare and that's what republicans are really against: getting taxed with their money to poor people.

It's just political maneuvering to get reelected next time around. The US Supreme court has already ruled that this sort of law is unconstitutional. I would say it's a waste of time but it is keeping our elected representatives from doing any real damage at the state house.

Ragbrai spends $2,000,000 (2 million) at least at each over night. Food, booze, motels, etc. Stop whining about being inconvenienced for a few minutes and think of how you can make money off it.

Welcome to Iowa. Any equipment issues with your car is an automatic invitation to the police to pull you over and look for anything else they can find. Any burnt out lights, missing license plate, outdated license plate sticker, the list is pretty long. Iowa used to have a grace period for seat belts but that's over. No visable seat belt can get you pulled over now. Since teen texting is baned, (for good reason), that will be another reason if you look young enough.

Illegal to ride on the sidewalk? Only in the immediate downtown area of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. There is no state law banning bicycle riding on sidewalks, only a handful of city's have local ordinances limiting that.
