This has nothing to do with a coup as any informed individual can clearly see.

Added to which what of the protection of the common man? As far as I can see the ordinary citizens are almost excluded from consideration in every single plan (I use the term loosely) when it comes to nnational security.

Does that affect the quality of care given at the unit? Does it make the opening more or less gala?
It seems that this is, above all, a matter of ego and political show (more pictures for the papers)
Would it be sensible to hold off the opening till it was most convenient for the Minister....while patients wait to be tended to? Lets be real....we now have gala openings for stand pipes all sorts of trivial things. Focus on the ultimate customer and serving them....not the photography.

Downtown floods after a drizzle, Westmoorings is an earthquake away from slipping into the sea....the areas around the CRH are flood zones as a result...with huge puddles on the highway itself.
We are paying for poor planning and development controls. We cannot widen the EMR, SMR or any of the other major roadways as properties have been allowed to jam right up onto them.
Using the foolish mistakes of the past is not a good argument for present errors.

We have seen so many missteps and yet they still continue to this day....with the same dotishness. We keep talking about vision, diversification, improvement and development....yet we cannot drag our public services and institutions out of the mental dark ages.
While the cowboy minister must take the ultimate blame there are so many levels between him and the "boots on the ground". Each and every one should be held accountable in some way form or fashion...or else this will be a recurring situation until regional/international embarrassment occurs.

I am happy that the Dubai model was pointed out as time goes on it increasingly seems obvious that we will be doomed to face the effects of the Dutch disease or "Lara effect" as one of my ex lecturers put it.
