Anyone who argues that 8 carriers is enough doesn't have the faintest idea what they're talking about or don't care about what's require for a Navy. And subs are good at sinking enemy ships but it can't control the sea or the air above the sea. That's why you need a balanced fleet to fight the enemy. Whether the LCS will fit in it well is a big question. And if we cripple our shipbuilding program because we want to spend money on things hte Constitution doesn't say the federal government should do, it will be years before you rebuild the the shipbuilding capability. That's if you can.

And the Coast Guard is a important resource for both defense and law enforcement. It's ironic that the administration that what to turn everything, even going after terrorists, into a law enforcement problem can't bother funding a law enforcement agency that does so much for the US.

Funny how Obama can spend money on everything the government isn't suppose to do but the one thing the Constitution requires the federal government do, namely a strong military and national defense, is what Obama refuses to spend money on.

We're looking at years and huge sums of money to repair the damage Obama has done to our military. All the while the world is getting more dangerous and hostile nations are getting stronger. I hope we have the time to do so because you can't rebuild the military overnight. It takes years to have a a military that can go around the world with massive force, and kill the bad guys in their lairs for however long it takes. That's expensive, but cheaper then waiting for the bad guys to hit us first.

Hope no wars erupt before we can rebuild the military because then we will know how expensive in blood and money rebuilding a military after war starts is.

Exactly right. The US needs to able to kill the enemy anywhere in the world in their lairs. WE can't wait for them to come to our soil and spill American blood here.

So if cutting defense is necessary to reduce the deficit, then I expect to hear every other part of the federal government (Including all the parts of the government that the Constitution didn't require us to have.) cut their funding too. They should also announce larger cuts then the military.

I don't expect to hear anything like that.

In answer to your second question...NO. Because the Brits have done good to the world, like the US.
