Also, via her Sandy Speaks videos, it seems that Sandra Bland saw social media as a powerful and important tool for speaking out against this very thing. If it indeed comes down to it, I would honor her own stated wishes above her family's.

Queer band names -- go!!

My friend and I are forming a loose creative collaboration. So far, we have written a queer parody of "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid, complete with a gay as hell music video (which will hopefully blow up the queer internet next week!). But we are talking about expanding beyond that, with some original music, and we desperately need a name!

Thus far, the aesthetic of the band is very lighthearted, spontaneous, politically radical, and super super queer. Do any Toasties have good band name recommendations?

Is it just me, or is Lesley Gore channeling a little Kim Kelly in that video? I never noticed how much Busy Phillips resembles her in general, but her facial expressions in that video really jibe with that character.

It is very telling that the Academy is eager to honor films that examine long-ago injustices with clear villains and (white) saviors, but refuses to acknowledge films that tackle more recent injustices resurfacing in real time.

Sigh...yes, I have seen older women at my suburban gym back home do this -- with the wall dryers. It does indeed happen, though hopefully not often. Also, and I shudder to admit this, my mother uses a handheld hair dryer on her pubes/general crotch area daily. Apparently this is doctor's orders.

I dare not inquire why.
