I didn't see this posted about yet - apologies if I missed it.
Kentucky has decided to go with "separate but equal" in their latest boneheaded legislation. http://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/bill-cre...

Thanks for all the info on this topic. In a related republican desperate talking point, they are saying that the American people should have a voice in this and that's why the nomination should be delayed until after the election in November. What they seem to forget is that the people DID have a say. They said they wanted Pres. Obama for 4 more years, not 3.

I've been hearing republicans saying that it's been 80 years since a lame duck president nominated a new SCOTUS justice. But what they don't say is how many opportunities have there been to do so. I would guess that a SCOTUS opening happening early in the same year as a presidential election after a 2-term president would be a fairly rare occurrence, but I don't really know. Has anyone found this or figured it out?

This demonstrates one of the (many) problems of trying to insert the bible into civil law. Eric interprets the bible one way, Tx64jm another way. Who decides which is correct? We have a Supreme Court to decide Constitutional questions, but no official interpretation of the bible. Even if you are a bible believer you should want it kept out of civil law or you risk having your interpretation taken away from you by some other flavor of religion that the state decides is the one to follow.

I think it would be perfect. Crazy vs. crazier.
I doubt the general public would think WBC is actually on our side.
More likely they would see just how ridiculous both sets of religious fanatics are.

Thanks for the link, Rick.

It's all pretty disgusting, but I have to call out this from his Lawrence vs. Texas dissent:
in 2003 he said.....
"So imbued is the Court with the law profession’s anti-anti-homosexual culture, that it is seemingly unaware that the attitudes of that culture are not obviously ‘mainstream.’”

He was actually using popularity as a factor in his decision?!?
Being pro-gay was not "mainstream" enough?!
Well, as wrong as it was, if that's his standard, he ought to have changed his tune. Being pro-gay IS mainstream now in 2015. If he was honest and had some integrity, ..... ah, who am I kidding.

Obergefell was obviously the star of this term (and with good reason - still can't stop smiling when I think about it), but IMO Arizona is extremely important as well. I think gerrymandering has created so much grief for us. This doesn't necessarily "fix" that, but at least continues to allow a way to address it. Great news.
