While I doubt I would be scared reading your correspondences as I have dealt with things like that many times and always keep backups for if anything like that happens.

It is sad to hear about your review and experiences but would you mind posting your correspondences with VPS.NET on here as it would be nice for people that may read this review (and quite a few have) to be able to confirm your side. While I am aware about a year ago they had major issues with their SAN and their backup service, I have not heard anything like that lately.

Hope Hostgator works well for you.

Well for me VPS.NET has works well but there has been times where it have had major issues (and they do not hide this fact). You can find out here - status.vps.net.

I find insulting them works better else Tweaked for your Pleasure would be a boring place to read stuff ;)
