That is a very interesting analysis. BJP needed something strong - that is for sure. Whether this was the right step or the right person, I guess, we will know in a few months time. I just hope that BJP comes out of the crisis stronger. A govt without a strong and sensible opposition can be a very dangerous situation indeed.

If Saif and Kareena along with Vir Sanghvi are our 'Leaders' god save us!

You are right - this photograph does say more than a thousand words! The fact that media is so embroiled in all this is the most disturbing thing. Anything for the right cost, I guess?

'There is a big difference between genuinely wanting to do something for others out of empathy and deliberately provoking some others to attract attention to ones own self.' - I think this underlines everything about Roy. As Anrosh says, she is pure rethoric and she conveniently lands where ever she can whip up a few emotions..

As for Arundhati Roy - I think all she wants is some media attention. Most of what she says is just deliberately provocative and this holds true in every occasion that she has come out with statements.

So true! Sad thing is that Britain whose legacy we are bent upon following has moved on , but we are still clinging on to these institutions which help nobody. Corruption is much a part and parcel of our services that it is almost considered normal!

'what we must realise is that unless the existing institutions of administration, policing etc are discarded and replaced by ones that firmly re-connect the state with its people as equals, rebellion in some form or the other will have to be faced time and again.' - Absolutely!

That is a great analysis! As you say, the results are a good thing as it will force the leaders to acknowledge that something is very wrong. Had they had a good showing, it would have been all too easy to sweep the Lok Sabha debacle under the carpet. I just hope that BJP takes this as an opportunity to introspect and buckle up rather than blaming it on the EVMs!

'I am convinced that he might just be the best thing that can happen. Not to the Congress. To the BJP. Surprised? ' - Am waiting to read more about this :)

Not for a minute, am I supporting the killing. To be honest, I thought that the killing was a rather new facet of it. Clearly, I was mistaken. To a large extent, the naxalite movement seems to be getting credibility, thanks to the apathy of successive govts towards the plight of the people. Again - this does not justify killing at all. Definitely not.
I just hope that some kind of compromise will be agreed to, now that the govt is trying to reach out. Lets see what happens.

'Bharat, on the other hand do not have the luxury to think about ideologies, all it needs is a helping hand to choose smart people who are serious about governance.' - I totally agree. We certainly need smart people who are serious about governance.

That was so interesting. You have put it all together in such a clear way. Clearly, Naxalism started off as a noble cause. The sad thing is that unless our govts start fixing things at grass roots level - nothing is going to change. And as far as a large section of us remain apathetic about the Indian reality - little is bound to change.

Our leaders today, love the situation we are in. The people who are aware - don't care, and the people who do come out and cast their votes, can easily be swayed by material promises and short term measures.. Mental secession is far more dangerous.

Yes, we certainly have a lot to learn from the way China has grown. It is a sad argument that China is a totalitarian regime and India is better for it's democracy- yes the democratic part - we might be better - but we definitely could learn a lot from the way it has progressed - on the economic front. And our attitude has a large part to play, for the way we are..

As you said, it has been awarded to Obama, purely on assumptions and hope that he will deliver. While Obama, might be worthy of it in a few years time, right now, it was just not the time..

He has been awarded for not being George W Bush, that's all.
