It sounds petty because the notion of an invisible man in the sky IS petty.

Oh so Christians are offended? Go cry into your pillows. Why would you be offended? If your god exists you should be smugly smirking at us not getting offended.

Ricky Gervais is with in his rights as a human being to do what he likes, along with write what he likes and say what he likes. The hypocrisy in this article and in the comments thereafter are dumbfounding.

And another thing, as someone who has a lack of belief in the Christian deity (as well as countless other deities) to be told that "Oh not, you do believe in god you are just angry at him" is insulting and offensive. You patronising childish little people.

Yeah, this sort of thing has happened to me a few times. People tend to assume you believe in jesus etc. Oh well, people are people.
