Well, yeah, because it's the only thing that works. Commanders are good, pretty cheap (not counting the cost of the weapons, which is the same for them as it is for everyone else) and the rest of the army mostly sucks (drones are good, obviously, I think firewarriors are just fine, there's a few other standouts).

But it's not fun, it's cheesy and dumb, and yeah, this is why I've been playing my GK and bought a bunch of Primaris.

I hope they don't fix it just by making commander weapons more expensive, or something. GW has shown they don't really know how to balance something like markerlights. They tend to make things like that either useless or completely broken. And I worry a lot of things that used to be wargear will now be stratagems. And I worry they will make plasma still less good than imperial (uncharged) plasma for no good reason. And that they'll nerf drones to be useless. And that they will have now realized, that stacking penalties are bad, but they won't retroactively adjust them for other codexes, so Tau won't get them with stealth suits, for instance, but Eldar will still have them.

I worry, man.

As a Tau player, I really hate the whole commander spam thing. I haven't really touched Tau since the GK codex came out.

Well, the virtue is you get to pick all these secondaries based upon the match-up. That's part of the skill. Really, they don't even have to be used equally often. I'll agree that some of them are a bit too specific, but if it's not advantageous to you....don't pick it.

It sounds like you're rating them "balanced, but boring". OK....that seems preferable. After all, a lot of the various GW missions (especially random stuff they come up with for their own tournaments) tend to be "exciting" but also are random and reduce player skill.

AT LVO the reapers seemed stronger than the Flyers, but either way we have the problem and the solution in the same codex, that's never good.

Here's hoping that Tau get some way to cancel out neg penalties. I say that not just as a Tau player (though, yes, that) but so that solutions are more spread around.

When I'm running an all stealth army (I think I have 12-15, right now) with -2 to hit, you have my permission to call me a cheeseball.

Kirby said he didn't think Flyers were dirty -- I responded that I didn't think that the -1 to hit should apply to the Flyers, definitely shouldn't stack. I hardly think that's a unique position, in fact, I think most people think that. When the new Tau codex comes out, I don't think it would be great if whatever Chapter Tactic (sept) stacks with stealth suits, either. (probably will)

I also made the comment that it was worse in the Eldar's case, because the Flyers don't effectively degrade. Now, I was referring to Hemlocks, you knew that, but you had to be a little shit about it, anyway. I made a small mea culpa, realizing that Kirby was only taking one of those. (good for him!) They are STILL 90% of the eldar flyers I see. That they don't degrade still makes eldar flyers even more annoying, on top of the double -1, which most people don't think should be a thing. All the statements are still true.
