Oh the doom & gloomers run with the "what if's" to make things look ever so dire. Fact is, for people who itemize as we do, then the listing of medical payments over the tax year are proof of health insurance. Other wise, a place to include health care insurance policy numbers should suffice to prove coverage.

On the other hand, as usual for the IRS, getti9ng out facts still seems problematic, to put it politely. They can take a simple ten piece puzzle and add thousands of unrelated pieces making it far worse than need be. If there are any problems, it will be from within the IRS itself almost entirely.

Aside from the few entrances/exits you saw, there are many other means of escape open around the building that are normally not seen by visiting patients. The two front rows of parking spaces are virtually all for handicapped parking, and the valet service also takes in those in need of handicapped parking.

That construction when completed will allow for quicker services by emergency department. But there is definitely one thing the VA needs to do and that is to open up another entry for those going to the valet parking. In the AM that entrance road gets jammed with cars and creates a real problem.

You need to see the "advocate" and possibly get re-reimbursed for that foul up. Some "employees" are the worst one can run into. As noted recently, a few from the travel office were relieved of employment for scams they carried out. If you have waited an hour, you should not just "sit there" waiting. The Veteran's advocate can get things moving when waiting becomes too long.

But I also know that some patients interrupt the flow because they "drop in" with a claimed appointment, but actually are simply either lost on the date, or lying.

Good to see sane and sound responses. Each is a word of truth.

Patty Murray has done much for the Veterans and for the VA. But she can't do it alone, nor against republicans who send more money to the Pentagon than to Veteran's institutions.

As for the VA, it does a great job...normally. However, like any institution errors, screw-ups, etc. happen. That's why they have Veteran's advocates who are supposed to be the first line of defense to go to when any Veteran encounters a problem.

So now we have the man's story, so before we condemn the VA, maybe in the full sense of our own feelings of justice, we give the VA a chance to respond first.

What is amusing is that so many seem oddly out of focus on economics. What a private retailer pays out for a product, aside from 'taxes' they have to collect on the sale, is distribution, stocking, delivery, transportation, etc., all getting added onto the selling price. Oh yeah, these retailers also have to pay to run their business, and employees. Economics should have been a larger focus on what that privatization bill would do, unfortunately, too many folks don't know how a business works.

And where did you get the notion that these losers were "foreigners"? And for another, where did your ancestors arrive from?

These where what is known as "anarchists". They did not, and never will actually represent anyone except their own. They were not part of the actual demonstration which was peaceful.

Reading some of the above posts, I see that there are a few who are rushing in making a judgment without even hearing the entire presentation. Typical. I grew up and attended for nine years Catholic education with a class a day on faith. As for discrimination, try being the "new kid on the block" in various schools, and then tell me there is no discrimination just on that issue. I saw some girls who were not a part of the "clique", and were subjected to numerous insults. I saw what went on for all my youth every day after school got out. Christ delivered a message, but some people simply don't get it if it conflicts with their own desire.

As for those here denouncing Savage for what went down, and haven't heard his entire presentation, you are kind of rushing in where the advice was to not be so judgmental. Then again, if you're going to put your "politics" above it all, no wonder...

I am somewhat perplexed about the republican feigned outrage. When Senator Vitter, Louisiana, was caught soliciting high priced prostitutes, upon his return to the Senate the republicans gave him a standing ovation. Now they are outraged about these Secret Service guys?

I don't mind the voting, it is what we do in our democracy. What I do mind are all the signs, pro and con all over the place. With numerous signs up, some torn down, some missing, and more put up it looks like a junk place. All I can say is that after the voting day, those who put up the signs had best go around and get them all down or face a charge of littering.
