I believe we all have the inalienable right to choose when to die, this whole thing is an issue of control and it's being manipulated by those who cannot bear to see human beings make mature, sensible, and rational decisions for themselves, instead of using a book of ridiculous fairytales and half truths.

My mum died of cancer this year, after a long struggle with the illness, and I have to say her last 6 months of life were a sad and pitiful existence where we had to watch the last shreds of this womans dignity be torn from her. It's about time we as human beings grew up, and started accepting that death isn't the great enemy of life, but rather it is a part of life!

If these stupid men want to fight with dogs I say let them, I suspect the dogs would win most of the fights! *winks*

This is a classic case of what happens when you wear a hat that is too tight for your big fat head! (see pic) Your mind becomes trapped in a diminishing space, and has no room to expand, you begin to hallucinate and develop a need to seek out people more stupid than yourself to relieve them of their burdens. (ie money)

I was going to post a serious repsonse to this, but I'd have had to use foul language, as this kind of idiocy, especially when it harms children just puts a real torch to my bonfire! ( And yes I am a witch! Then again by this morons definition so is almost everyone else!)

Bumped into you in Ingunn last night, I expect you might recall the encounter. Anyway I'd just like to say that it's easy to say GF when you are on the winning side, but your readiness to tip your hat even in defeat has marked you out as a real gent and a good sport, and certainly earned you a lot of respect among myself and my fellow pilots. (( Not going to name names here as we are RP'ers and this is purely my personal ooc opinions, besides I am sure you know who we are! ))

I shall certainly be keeping an eye on your blog too, it's nice to see a pirates perspective, especially when it's put across in such an entertaining way!

Well as a pagan myself I have to say it's a tad embarassing seeing 'witches' pull out the 'religious persecution' card, then again it takes all sorts I suppose and I suspect the story had to have a slant to make it 'newsworthy'.

I personally wouldn't have even contemplated using a church hall in the first place for the very obvious reasons, though as some have mentioned these tax exempt venues ought to be available to all members of the local community regardless. So in conclusion it's a bit of a non story really, there is a lot of humour in paganism, especially where xtians are concerned so I'd take this story with a large pinch of salt and a sly wink!

Clearly a woman, and probably a lesbian yes, but so what? I'd like to say I am surprised that these morons can't tell the difference between a woman and a man even a woman who cross dresses and acts manly, but I'm not. Then again why let examining the evidence properly get in the way of forming an outraged lynch mob?

Firstly I'd like to say that while I fully support tolerance and acceptance for people of all colours of consenting adult sexual orientation, I do feel that you cannot teach tolerance to those who do not wish to be taught. Therefore I believe it is counter productive to make such lessons mandatory as it just gives the willfully ignorant an excuse to bleat on about the 'liberal' agenda etc etc.

I think one point that does need to be raised is that contrary to the headlines of the Mail article quoted, none of the parents are actually being faced with prosecution for withdrawing their children from this one lesson. If you read on you will see it says...

"The council has declared that children who missed the lessons will be viewed as truants."

Alright so they will be marked as truants for those days, so where's all this court action talk come from then? Well read on and you see...

"The ruling means some families could breach rules that children should not be absent for more than 19 days a year. "

Ah 'some' families 'could' breach a rule about children being absent for more than 19 days, so in fact it's rather a flimsy construct saying they are facing court action for withdrawing their children from these lessons isn't it?

Final point I think parents do have the right to withdraw their children from lessons which they feel are counter to their beliefs. However there are ways to do this without making a song and dance or getting an article in the daily mail! Hint communication, consultation, compromise...

How about we start a class action suit to remove those two books from all libraries then, on the grounds they promote hatred and intolerance, and that they have caused us emotional distress?

I think it's actually pretty safe to say that people who bring lawsuits claiming they have been traumatised by a book in a library are either too stupid not to read said book, or are just intent on inflicting their beliefs where they are not wanted or needed. Come on please, it's a book it doesn't leap out and start reading itself to you does it? I can only think of one library where the books could traumatise patrons, and that's also a library overseen by a rather large orang utan!
