I'm not sure claiming "there is no magic money tree" is going to work any more. Voters are listening to those who say "it doesn't have to be this way".
I don't remember coming across so much anger in an election campaign since the 1980s!

Whoever is negotiating will have to make concessions on FOM, I'm sure some form of words can be found which would satisfy every one.
The alternative is economic disaster.

I don't believe many think there is a beast, much of the PLP could quite easily live with whatever McDonnell and Corbyn propose, most of them were only against Tax and Spend, bigger deficits, scrapping Trident because they didn't believe the voters would wear it, If they think they can win on that platform they would be 100% in favour.

From now on the Conservatives will face a more united, more Left wing Labour Party. MPs like Chris Leslie the former Shadow Chancellor are in a small minority and either on the way out, or will keep quite.

From what I gather talking to Labour friends Corbyns ideas have always been popular, even in the PLP but were regarded as toxic to the voters. The recent result shows that Left wing redistributive policies are popular with many people, possibly enough to win an election.

Looking at Labour blogs websites etc it's clear that the party including the PLPis moving behind Corbyn and his Socialist policies.

To counter this the Conservatives need a more inspiring positive message.

It was mentioned by pundits prior to the vote that no government has ever increased its majority during period of falling wages. The Conservatives economic record is nothing much to shout about. People are tired of austerity, any one who has had to rely on the NHS will have noticed its in crises. Parents are worried about class sizes.
When a group of 130 economists come and say there IS an alternative voters will pay attention. http://www.primeeconomics.org/articles/guws3cyv3c...

Another election might have to be called regardless, with a slim majority rebellions by a few MPs, by-election defeats, disagreements with coalition partners could all force the hand of a weak PM.

It's clear we will now remain in the EEA, membership of EFTA requires FOM ( at least in some degree) Theresa May is too closely identified with her untenable pledge to restrict immigration to "tens of thousands" she can not credibly change et policy on this and must stand aside.

It has become apparent that many voters believe Hard Brexit would be even more catastrophic than implementing Labours manifesto.

Plans for the Brexit negotiations are going to have to be recalibrated as there is no mandate for leaving the EEA and May has already ruled out membership of EFTA. She has also got up the backs of the EU negotiators.
Almost any one would stand a better chance than her of making a positive start to negotiations.

Will there now be a bitter and divisive leadership campaign between a candidate from the Thatcherite Free Market pro EU wing of the party and one from the small c, interventionist/ nationalist wing?
Which faction is stronger in parliament? Which in the country?
