America consumers have the best choices in the world. The American consumers will ultimately select the product that has the best value and quality. Cheap does not mean crappy. If the product is proven dangerous it will not sell. Buying from Costco is buying from an American. Buying from Nike is buying from an American. You don't always get the best quality or value from buying products made in the USA and sometimes you don't have a choice at all such as tv, sneakers, etc.

Remember ecoli in broccoli, spinach, chili produced in the US? Is it fair to say food in the US are dangerous? Remember Ford Pinto or Chevy Vega? Is that mean all cars made in the US are junk? Nestlé Purina and Costco are huge corporations. If product is detective and dangerous, I am sure they will fix it.

Test the dog treats to see if it is contaminated with a dangerous chemical. If you can't prove it, no chance winning in court. Products from China is just as safe as the US. It just that we use more from China because it is cheaper. Statistically if you use more, you will discover more defects. But, percentage wise, it should be about the same. If you hate made in China products, stop buying them. Instead of paying $3 for a pair of socks, pay $50 for Arami.

Uhh, board members are homeowners in the neighborhood. They are not the boss, homeowners are. Homeowners elected board members. Nowhere in the convenants does it specify you cannot paint your house bright pink. So, is this mean you can paint your house bright pink and ruin everyone's else property value. You must be living in a ghetto.

Sounds like a dysfunctional HOA and neighbors. So as long as someone is in violation makes it okay for someone else to violate? Does not make sense. If you are a concerned neighbor, start petitioning to have this guy's yard cleaned up. HOA can send in the cleaning crew and lien the property if homeowner's does not pay up.

I don't have the whole story of other cases and I really don't care. The purpose of HOA is to maintain the uniformity of the community and making a great place to live for all. It is a written contract and enforceable by law. 99% of time, HOA will win when you violate the convenant. You can bet on that one. Why risk the argument and paying the high fee when all you have to do is communicate with the HOA and get a written permission before preceding with the work.

Its impossible to list all the specifics in the covenant. But, the covenant specifically asked any architectural changes must be approved by board member in writing.

The rules were made up by the homeowners. If you have a case, rally up the neighbors and see if you could get a majority to go along and change the convenant. We are living in a democratic society and its is obvious some people do not know how it works.

Actually, the homeowners elected board of directors to make the decision. A typical HOA would state that any exterior change to your home, you must seek the board or architectural committee for a decision and have the decision in writing. The Singh signed this contract when they purchased their home. The Singh breached their contract. The only way this homeowner will have a chance if other homeowners have bars as well. Otherwise, get ready to remove the bars and reimburse the court and attorney fees.

Lock your car, don't leave the key inside. But, park in the your garage or in a safe area. And don't install bars all over your car would be better judgment. The HOA is not the bad party here. Before purchasing their home, the Singh were informed of the HOA and the covenants. You are living in a neighborhood with a few rules. Comply with it. The HOA has the right to enfore the covenants or get sued by the rest of the neighbors. The Singh have no chance of winning if this ordeal goes to court. Remove the ugly bars in the front and replace with better door jams, cameras, get yourself a dog, party a neighborhood watchdog, etc.
