"Most people get divorced because they are bored and they think life will be more exciting with a new spouse. They are usually wrong."
What a profound over-simplification and condescending perspective on something as complex and gut-wrenching as divorce. Taking advice from a divorce lawyer on keeping your marriage alive is like taking diet advice from Kirstie Alley.

She has a fabulous reputation unlike many other divorce attorneys here in town. One in particular who looks eerily like TH comes to mind...

Adultery is not relevant anyway since Oregon is a no-fault state. You can be the world's least loyal husband or wife and it still does not impact the divorce proceedings. You can also abstain from relations with your spouse for years, never get a job, and still walk away with half the assets and permanent spousal support. Go figure!

Like virginity, a good reputation is impossible to get back once it is lost. In this case, Terri Horman "gave it up" willingly - she is no victim.

You are spot on. Spousal support laws are a joke. Why be rewarded for being a barnacle, as opposed to a boat?

For everyone confusing the issues of spousal support, child custody, and adultry: do a little research. It may surprise and sicken you to learn that none of those things have anything to do with each other. It is entirely conceivable that Kaine will have to pay this disgusting parasitic blob spousal support. It wouldn't be much, because of the length of the marriage, but there could easily be an award for temporary support during the pendency of the investigation and the divorce proceedings. Luckily for Kaine, any support will be temporary, not only because they haven't been married long, but because she will have no living expenses. See, those are covered for you when you are in the custody of the state.

Spousal support: those who can't do, let others do it for them. By the way, is anyone else thinking of who would be the perfect divorce lawyer for Terri? They look a lot alike, both are horrible people hated by the entire city... www.postdarwinianhubris.blogspot.com

There is no difference between spousal support and alimony. It's like the words lawyer and attorney. Same thing. Spousal support is the preferred term and what is used in Oregon. And it has nothing to do with who has the child or children. Finally, spousal support is hardly limited in Oregon. Spouses who CHOOSE to do nothing with their lives but stay at home will be richly rewarded when the marriage ends. The longer the marriage, the more the earning spouse will have to pay, and the longer they will have to pay. It's a completely screwed up system that rewards the lazy, fat and incompentent.

That is totally incorrect. You are referring to child support.

If that were true that would be great. However, in Oregon, if you have done nothing but squeeze babies out and sit on your ample rear end for many years while your spouse works his patooty off to pay for your lifestyle, you can be awarded indefinite support. The term "awarded" is especially hilarious because it is a reward for being lazy. Men: don't get married without a prenup. Women: if you want to stay home to raise your kids, great, but after they are in school, get yourself a job. A career. Duh.
