He beat Lesnar on an episode of Smack down to earn the match of his Choice for the Survivor Series 2003 PPV. When McMahon was berating him on the ramp saying Lesnar would destroy him in any match he chooses, Taker flipped it by demanding Vince in a Buried Alive Match
The problem being that if you put an up and comer against Taker and he breaks the streak, if he then goes on to be an absolute shit draw with no heat, you've essentially pissed all over the biggest part of Takers legacy. They could have broken it 8-10 years ago, but now its too big. Its now about more than just beating Taker.
I completely agree with this.....until the Bell tolls at WrestleMania. Then I'm sucked right into the whole thing. Both HBK matches, both HHH matches and last years Punk match I was sitting there on the edge of my seat popping for every Punch, every Kick and every Move. Its all about suspension of disbelief, and after the match starts, that's exactly what happens. Say what you like, feel whatever you feel, but there's been nothing in the last 5 years of 'Mania that suxks you in like The Streak.
Mania botches must include Ultimo Dragon continuously falling on his arse, no?
Other than that, the prediction thing sounds good fun!
Thought The Dinosaur bit was tremendous, and loved the pay off at the end!! Cracking review as always, its actually thanks to your reviews I now DVR and watch NXT every weekend. If you keep writing 'em, I'll keep reading 'em!!
I love Jericho, I really do. He's one of my all time favourites and will be for a long LONG time. That being said, I do believe the average fan DOES over rate him like you say. He's no Eddie Guerrero (My ACTUAL all time favourite). THAT being said, for a match that had no previous interaction between the two to build it and was nothing more than a way to re-introduce CM Punk back on to our screens, you still gave it 3.25 stars. For 2 guys who don't click, that's still an impressive achievement. I know that's probably as much to do with Punk as Jericho but it still takes 2. Other than that, agree with pretty much everything else.
Good column, very interesting. Always nice to see something Original on the Main Page. I watched my first full Impact this week, and have to say a lot of things really impressed me. The styles of wrestling and talent on show was a lot better than all but the Elite on WWEs roster. The BFGS seems like something I'm gonna get into also. Still a bit early in the game for me to make an educated guess but guys like Roode, Aries, Joe and Angle all stick out a lot more. Interested to see where they go with the Angle Rampage stuff too. One thing I didn't like though was that the ring seemed a lot smaller than a WWE ring. Not a major issue, but sort of sticks out to me. All in all, a good way to start my TNA run, enough to keep interested and things I want to watch.
Wrestlings never been perfect, but as long as its engaging, I'll defo be interested. Besides, if TNA sucks, it'll be all your fault and I'll never let you forget it! Sooooo, no pressure really. :-P Nah, like I said between yourself and Crow being very flattering, I think I've been unfair to TNA so I'm now on board.
I'm defo giving it a shot, I think they deserve at LEAST that much. Also, I tried watching Smackdown, but inadvertently ended up watching Raw due to all the re-caps, replays and re-matches. I only really enjoy NXT from the WWE right now, but thats mainly due to the wrestling at times. Not much in way of storylines or feuds. Still, lets see if TNA can re light a fire. Thanks for the reply!
I've set myself the Target of a full PPV cycle, from Slam - BFG. I'm gonna go in with an open mind and give it a fair shot. I don't want to jump in at a random point and have to wonder whats going on. WHile I realise that everything doesnt start from scratch after every PPV, it does give a nice kicking off point for some new fueds and opens up new directions for older ones. Thanks for the advice though. :-)
