WOW!!!!!!

Big Idea overload!!

Sweaty Ten-Minute Conversations seem to have become a specialty of mine recently. ;) I couldn't agree more with Gay here. These talks are really inevitable once things start to line up for you. If you are to become who you must be, your level of communication with those around you will have to take a big leap in clarity and courage. It must be so. And it feels GREAT! (once you stop sweating)

"Why were you not Sam Lewin?" Love this!!!

Nice connection of states and stages with "happiness thermostats". Building habits to support breakthroughs and raise our baseline levels is crucial. I am loving this challenge for just that reason!

But my favorite thing about the book is the Handshake Deal With the Universe. It's a great day when you realize that...and an even better day every time you remember it (or are forcefully reminded of it!) It is ON!

Cannot wait to hear Tripp's interview with Gay on The New Man Podcast!

Montaigne: “My life has been full of terrible misfortunes most of which never happened.” Maybe the funniest person ever. Love him!

“knowledge isn’t power until it is applied; and the purpose of this book is to remind you of what you already know and to kick you in the shins and inspire you to do something about applying it.”

Day-tight compartments are a great way to focus and apply what you "already know".

Basically I'm getting: focus on now, don't worry about what other people think, get busy rocking it. Love it!

Time to go get busy! ;)

Good people, please take a moment to find a way to get busy helping the people of Haiti today. Do SOMETHING! I grew up in a country where everything is built with concrete and I would never want to see that happen to my loved ones.

I hope so Lincolsmom!

Hi Jules! We live in the Orlando, FL area. This school is, unfortunately, still the exception rather than the rule, but I love the results I see. The county I live in has a Leadership track that goes from elementary through high school in this particular zone. The kids learn these principles in K and expand on them throughout their 12 years. School management is handled using the Covey terminology explicitly. I posted links below to the book the kids are exposed to as well as the recent book from Steven Covey about this school initiative. My son's school is one of the schools featured in the book. This has been an unexpected blessing, since this just happens to be the school four blocks from our home!

I have been in education myself for about ten years. Mostly high school and now university. I'm sure I don't need to tell you how much these skills are needed early in life! ;)

Thanks for the reply! Now off to get this kiddo to school!

Know this book well. Nice to listen to your Note on this on Brian! This time I really responded to the Quadrant 2 imperative and the idea about Synergy. As a bassist, I can tell you I am NOTHING without one of my amazing drummer friends. With one of them by my side I can make you dance, open your heart, or kick you in the gut with power. ;)

The Quadrant 2 imperative is really what embracing this challenge is all about. Thanks to all who worked so hard to put this together so that all of us can spend fifty non-urgent and deeply important days together in Quadrant 2!

My 5 year-old son is fortunate enough to attend a school that uses the 7 Habits for Kids as their core foundation and participates in research with the Coveys. He knows and applies the habits in kindergarten! The other day I said "no" to one of his requests and he said "But Papi, I'm synergyzing." And he was!

"Detection of inner negativity is not a negative act, but a courageously positive act that makes you a new person." From a side note within the note, but it really illustrates that first step towards freedom. This has been a theme in my life over the past year. Much more aware of previously unconscious business and much more able to act constructively with an open heart.

I love how this books takes it down to four H U G E fundamentals for interpersonal communication as well as "inner personal" communication. (I think the Buddha had something to say about that once!)

The first agreement is the one I have really leaned into this year...the others help you to stay true to that intention, with sanity and action!

Great starting point for the challenge guys! Let's rock!

Keith Ferazzi's book "Never Eat Alone". I love his focus on generosity in authentic networking. Tripp recommended it to me as one of his favorite life-changers around the same time he told me about you. I still need to check out the sequel. ;)
