Life's not that good right now. Howard is in a rut. Defense is banged up. Datsyuk and Zetterberg are trying hard (Datsyuk is still an amazing player) but it isn't enough. We are in the playoff hunt for sure (IIRC we are in the playoff picture solidly) but again, the Wings aren't poised for a deep run.

Anaheim has been special this year and Boston continues to inspire. Chicago is a force to be reckoned with. It makes me happy to see the Pens and the Metropolitan Conference being rather weakish. After all, that conference was essentially made just for Pittsburgh to dominate (with a few notable rivalry games with Washington just to spice things up).

I think it's wonderful that Goon has made such an amazing Blog with great information and perfection throughout that the only thing critics can do is to nitpick spelling and grammar in comment sections and here and there in his online work.

Congrats to Goon. Spelling and Grammar is all the haters have to go on now. :)

It was an amazing run. Unfortunately, the rest of the Queens suck so it ended up not making a difference.

As for the caption, I wouldn't ask him to kick the extra point. I'd ask him if he can play QB, Corner, Safety, DLine, and coach.

Oh and one more thing: All game long it was very apparent that the Cowboys play calling wasn't the only inconsistent and suspect aspect of their defensive scheme: their tackling skills as well. look at the initial tackle on this run. When has ANYONE gotten Peterson down just by hitting him? Wrap him up or watch him screw you up.

BGSU wants the same thing that the B1G schools got: Solidarity in all sports. They want a MAC hockey conference so to speak. It's not so much selfishness as it is geographic and traditional familiarity. I also think, though it pains me to say this, it has nothing to do with Bruce McLeod's ineptness. Besides, McLeod has either hinted or outright stated his retirement within the next year or two anyways.

As far as expansion is concerned, I would love to see BSU join our ranks. Unfortunately, BSU would be in no better position in the NCHC as it would be in the WCHA... or maybe marginally better... but not by much.

The other team I'd love to see in the NCHC (but we won't for numerous reasons) would be Air Force. Good coaching, good program, good geographic location. Won't happen though.

Mankato would be ok, and I agree, MSU M seems the most likely.

It was the darndest play and the commentators were dead on. It appeared as though McCoshen caught the puck but that puck absolutely zinged out from the net. The commentator claimed that McCoshen's arm didn't enter a throwing motion for a bit (he eventually changed his mind) when it was very apparent that he did throw the puck. It's hard to think that McCoshen could have done that, though, without closing his hand on the puck.

The play of the day, however, was the shootout goal that turned into the Game Winner for BC. Again, the commentator thought he whiffed. He didn't whiff...at least not unintentionally. He faked Wilcox out of his jock without moving the puck! It was amazing.

Oh well. He was 16. Their word isn't worth much sadly. All sorts of spins you could put on this but in the end, Ryan chose his own path.

I hope he chose the right one. But then again, no one at my end really cares anymore.

Silver lining: He didn't pull this late in the process like JT Miller did.

Typical. First half of the season will be BRUTAL and then magically it will disappear about mid January. Greg and Bruce will come out citing success and there ya go.

Today at the Force vs. Lancers tilt, a Force player (Babcock IIRC) was given a 5 and a game for a CFB that was obviously a penalty but it was a minor. It wasn't into the boards. It knocked the Lancer player to his hands and knees (he hurt his arm breaking his fall). It obviously was a penalty, sure, but it should've been a minor.

My point is that if the refs knew the difference between a major and a minor penalty when they saw it, crackdowns like this wouldn't exist. The game moves too fast for them and their judgment too poor. Perhaps it is training. Perhaps it is leadership. Perhaps outright incompetence. Most likely a little of all 3.

I'm waiting for the crackdown on situational officiating as well as on diving.

I thought the Viking Defense played alright last Sunday. I'm still laughing at the Vikings thinking they know what they're looking at when it comes to QBs. Minnesota Vikings: Drafting tomorrow's Backup QBs.

The Queenies are lame. I don't see how Ponder is an improvement over TSuck when it comes to the only way the Vikings win is if they snap the ball and hand it to Adrian, have the defense play above their talent levels (Jared Allen excluded... that dude can play), and have the opposing QB pull an Eli Manning (Elite QB my a$$. Every day he must praise G-d for Manningham and especially David Tyree).

And while I'm at it: The Queenies stink and the Bears still barely edge them? Methinks the Bears aren't as good as they think they are.
