I got an idea, How about the histericals not wait til the very last minute on these lost causes and focus on the commercial buildings that are just sitting there with no direction for a revitalization plan while there is still time.

These are crap houses that have set vacant and untouched for over 2 years. The owners have obviously abandonded them or have consented to their being demolished. Where were these bleeding heart preservationist 2 years ago? Why wait till now - OH...I know MONEY. It isn't about the historic significance of these unsafe dog houses but simply securing money for their own agenda. The decsion to demolish or restore these heaps rest squarely on the owner of the property, not on preservationists looking for their next headline since loosing the Smoke Stack fight. How about for once the HPC do something useful and focus on the downtown restoration instead of dragging this out for owners who clearly want the houses down. What about all the vacant abandoned commercial buildings downtown? I do not see them doing anything for those.
They were brought here because somebody here gave a homeless guy some change and the word got out.
