I am going to chime in here if you don't mind. It is natural for us to do the opposite of the morally right thing. Scripture is the foundation for all moral values. It is God's Word used to direct and protect us from the temptations to do the wrong thing. However, people get confused because they can be as the Pharisees who lived by the law. The law didn't make one righteous, if anything the law showed how morally depraved we all are. We cannot live up to this moral standard that God set. That is why Christ came and died for all mankind. He bridged the rift caused by sin and allowed us to be restored by God. When I accepted Christ as my savior it was as if scales were removed from my eyes and and I saw things differently. In my own strength I cannot be obedient to God's Word. That is where the Holy Spirit comes in and starts cleaning up the mess that was once my life. I will still sin and make mistakes. However, God worked on my heart and changed me to the point where I couldn't believe I did the things that I did. Sorry, I have to go. Wife just got home.
Add Kay Hagan in NC. She said she hasn't taken a position and will make the judgement based on what the constituents say. I personally don't believe it, bujt it doesn't hurt to try
I had hurt so many people in college and damaged many relationships including my girlfriend. She went to the arms of another man one night. God showed me that it was because I treated her like an object, so that pushed her away. We broke up, but a year later after college I apologized to her for treating her so poorly. God convicted me of my wrong doing (what i did wrong). I wasn't so much concerned about an apology from her I wanted to examine myself and apologize for my wrong doing. I don't can't stand doing any of those things I once did. That was a sign that it was God's control in my life because when I escaped the way I was living I found contentment in Life. Only God can do that.
God opened my eyes that day and I became a believer. Now I did fall off the boat in college. I became a proud and arrogant, a drunk and womanizer. I allowed my flesh to seek its desires. I thought I was missing out on something. After college is when God brought me back around. None of those things brought me any joy nor did they ever satisfy my desires. God never gave up on me and through a series of trials helped me get away from living like I was. I was a broken man and I asked God for his forgiveness.
The Bible is infallable and was written through men by God. We have a God shapped hole in all of us, except we try to fill it with other idols whether it be false gods from other religions or simply trying to deify and serve ourselves. I can give testimony to the fact of my life. My life has been a roller coaster. I accepted Christ when I was ten. I had a realization that I was a sinner and believed my natural self chooses the opposite of righteous living. I wanted to serve myself rather thatn God. -cont-
Good Vs Evil to show that there is a God. Follow this progression...When you say that there is such a thing as "good" aren't you assuming that there is such a thing as "evil"? When you are saying that there is such a thing as "evil" aren't you assuming that there is such a thing as a moral law on the basis to differentiate between good and evil? When you say that there is such a thing as "evil" aren't you assuming that there is such a thing as "good"? When you say there is such a thing as good aren't you assuming that there is such a thing as moral law to differentiate between good and evil.? If there is such a thing as moral law then there must be a moral law giver. To have a moral law there must be a moral law giver. If there is no moral law giver, then there is no moral law. If there is no moral law then there is no good. If there is no good, then there is no evil. God is the moral law giver and He sent Jesus Christ to die for our sins which have separated us from Him. Only through turning our lives over to Jesus Christ does one receive God's pardon to be allowed into heaven.
Have you every thought how intricate our bodies our? The cell is an amazing and complicated world that we could never imagine. It is a nanofactory. DNA for instance located in the nucleus of each cell. DNA contains an amazing amount of information. It helps our bodies regenerate. The DNA contains our identities. No DNA is the same, we are all different because God doesn't make robots. We have our own identity and personalities. DNA contains so much information. People are looking at DNA to predict diseases and find cures. Upon conception DNA is formed. When the egg is fertilized by the sperm the DNA is generated and you have a human forming with its own identity in the mother's womb. That genetic information doesn't just happen. It comes from someone and that is God. Have you ever looked at a Ferrari and think to yourself, How did that just happen. Ferrari's don't just appear. That amazing peace of machinery was built by human hands. We didn't just appear but were engineered by God. I am going to be leaving another post because I think I have gone too long here.
Hopefully I can type a full reply. I am a devout Christian that believes Christ when he said in John 14:6. "I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father except through me." I am not going to just throw scripture at you unless I am trying to warrant a point. I know that someone like you wants to logically see it. One person below already spoke of just looking around you and seeing God's hand in our creation.
You read wikipedia? You do know that wikipedia allows anyone to write whatever they want for any topic to conform it to their own views? There is no check up to make sure what is written is historically accurate. I read history books and actual historians and historical accounts, not wikipedia. I think this is where this generation has gotten confused. Don't be a sheep like so many other people in this world. Research on your own using unbiased accounts. Learn to think for yourself and not what someone tells you.
Read the Gospels. Christ is alive. He rose from the grave. The disciples and 500 others witnessed his resurrection. Whether you like it or not Scripture is a history book.
