Yesterday at my therapy appointment, I realized that I'd had a breakthrough. A task that I'm supposed to do every week - and which I dread and procrastinate every week, which ultimately ends us with me not doing it and feeling like shit - has finally become "routine" for me! I can do the task without feeling anxious, without overthinking it and talking myself out of it. It sounds so simple, but it was a huge realization for me that the work I'd been doing on this one little task has finally paid off. Such a great motivator to continuing doing The Hard Things.

(I was a commenter at The-Dash-Toast, and a lurker here - but finally wanted to contribute to the Mid-Week Check-In! Thanks CleverManka!)

For me, the biggest fear was that a doctor would say "Oh no, you don't need meds. You're perfectly fine the way you are (aka miserable)." So I think you have the biggest problems already tackled - there are people in your corner who agree that medication will help you! And better yet, you know and understand that you need the help!

Figure out what your reward will be for scheduling the appointment (personal day from work, giant donut, giant salad, permission to lay on your couch and not talk to anyone for 2 hours after making the phone call). Then, go out there and kick some appointment-scheduling butt!!

Jessica Valenti's piece Sunday Sauce, Saving Me. She is the reason I first identified as a feminist many years ago, and I love all her writing. This piece was so formative and powerful, and I think about it often. I'm so thankful she wrote it, and that The Toast published it.

Darn it, this story made me a little weepy at my desk. To be fair, everything is making me weepy. EOT (End Of Toast) = Peak Weepiness.

My husband whisper-sings the phrase "wanna get married?" to our dog every night. It is hilarious to both of us to think that our dog wants to get married to my husband. It is probably horrifying to everyone else in the world.
