Mr. Alonso is suspended unitl such time as the Ducks defense might need him...and then when he is reinstated Kelly can say it was for the young man's long term, non-football playing future.

I don't care if you are a Duck, Beaver, whatever school you are an alum or fan of--NEVER EVER cool to hit a woman, try to strangle a woman, etc.

Until colleges start taking scholarships away from guys who are star players when they get into trouble, it'll keep on happening. Third string wide receivers accused and not convicted are "asked" to leave a program after just allegations, yet star qb's aren't based on allegations.

You do realize that everyone found not guilty in a court of law isn't actually innocent? As is the case with many top college athletes who are accused of crimes such as this, it's possible that some well-to-do booster might find any potential witnesses and make some sort of "arrangement" and funny thing, their memory will grow fuzzy.....

To get an arrest for domestic violence it means someone had injuries on them consistent with domestic violence--I know the alleged victim tried to strangle themself....

I like the Beavs but a lot of Beaver fans also forget the guy who beat up the soldier on leave.

Some members of Beaver Nation has short and long term memory issues. Mike Riley has kept around plenty of kids who have not only actually been convicted and/or cited for this or that and guys who witnesses suddenly changed stories so no charges.

Is it my imagination or did the team not seem to have as many of these issues crop up when Belloti was head coach?

I know they had the occasional kid who got into trouble back then but it wasn't a weekly police blotter coming out of the football office.

When was the last time you followed the Portland basketball team? 5, 10 years ago. The guys on the team don't need any fresh faces, a healthy Brandon Roy, but the team is fine and full of high character guys.

Perhaps in recruiting athletes Chip Kelly should talk to Kevin Pritchard about how it is possible to find athletes and players of good morale character.

Didn't see Jesse hear when the cops killed James Chasse......nor when Washington County killled the teenage white kid....

Not to necessarily defend a senseless shooting by a police officer of Mr. Campbell or anyone but if you consider how many hundreds of officers work for the PPB and how many THOUSANDS of calls they respond to each and every year, bad things like this are going to happen.

Would it be fair to label all black/African-American people as criminals and thugs? NO! Most officers are just out there doing their job wanting to go home to their families at the end of their shift. Most are not like this meathead officer who wasn't paying attention to what other officers at the scene were doing.

If you've read the PPB's own report, it's amazing this one idiot cop didn't shoot the police dog or a fellow officer. This one idiot should be fired but then the union would get him reinstated.

A few bad apples on the force is not reflective of each and every officer out there on the streets.
