Just remember that as long as you have your Towel, you can deal with anything.

At first l like scourges for AT, but I feel you get better efficiency with Trueborn running 5 man with dual Dark Lances. That way you do not have to cram 10 units into cover. Also Trueborn have a better Leadership so they are not as likely to get run off the board. So I use reavers since they have plenty of utility once you parking lot someones transport motor pool. Reavers are even better when you take a He-man and apply a Token on them.

On your comments about the Duke with Scourges, I am of the opinion he is actually better utilitzed with Reavers since he can add another buff with combat drugs. I think wyche armies with reaver support, or Baron/Duke with Hellions and Warrior backup is the stronger use.

Another Pod would work, to get it I think the only logical elimination would be the landspeeders, however they themselves will be reserved so if my opponent chooses to reserve the LS could prove pivital in a response since they are packing MM too, sure it isn't as dependable as a Drop Pod but I think it will do the job.

I think a few playtests will help as I begin collecting and building the list. But I am a fan of the balance and the fact that Logan has a roll in mid-field with the rest of the list and I have quick responsing counter assault, and if my WG get assaulted they have the ability to drag a few units with them if it an all out CC unit. But 16 missiles is tough to neutralize when it is spread out through out the force.

As for the article, by definition these so called "foot" armies are mobile as you pointed out, but what really seperates the boys from the men on list (SW to Orks) is the Fire supporting elements required, and the durability that is built into these lists. Sure 140 Orks will not work cause the firepower is at best random. While a all SM in power armor foot army will work, but it cannot be mobile and have the same durability an firepower as a DW, or Loganwing since both these lists have incorperated a sort of "sponge" unit. I think durability also plays into Eldar foot fail because you cannot create point efficient cover unlike their Darker brothers who can use beasts. So while being able to move and shoot can make a list good, its the durability/sponge/grabbing our own trees and rocks (cover) that makes a "foot" list operate effectively/competitively.

Theres my 2 cents.

Only armies that are built to reserve really get any benefit from DoW, and really to think about turn one is often a wash for so many armies that rely on range with night fighting.

Just had a game with my Tau, which is a "mobile" army cause many units have the ability to move and shoot. Only unit that suffers in Markerlights on PF. However night fighting hurts my rail cannons and MP shots if I am only able to see on avg 18-24". I am also not going to burn points for Blacksun filters for a deployment. I think this is why Stelek ignores the DoW argument when it somes to Devastators, and Long Fangs. Its not like they are getting a 48" shot off in turn one.

Ok, using the information above in relation to where I like to see this force go I have concluded the follow list:

Logan: 275
Rune Priest: (SC, MH) 100
WGBL: TWM, WC, SS, MB, 2x Wolves: 190

Lone Wolf: TA/CF/SS: 85
Lone Wolf: TA/CF/SS: 85
Wolf Scouts: Melta Gun: 85

WG: 4x PA/BP/CCW, 1x TA/SB/CML/WC: 140
WG: 4x PA/BP/CCW, 1x TA/SB/CML/WC: 140
WG: 4x PA/BP/CCW, 1x TA/SB/CML/WC: 140
WG: 4x PA/BP/CCW, 1x TA/SB/CML/WC: 140

TWC: WC/SS: 100
LS: MM/HF: 70
LS: MM/HF: 70

Long Fangs: 4x ML: 115
Long Fangs: 4x ML: 115
Long Fangs: 4x MM, Drop Pod: 150

2000 pts!

Logan Bomb like Purg likes, Some Deep Strikers, 16 Krak missiles, 6 WC, 2 CF, a Rune Priest for bringing Cover and Psyker protection, and 46 units.

Only Tweak I can see is drop the Landspeeds for more wargear and another TWC, possible with a chainfist or powerfist/SS to support.

Nice Batrep, looked like a brutal affair.

It seems like there were some lessons learned by both parties.

Question (Ignorance on BA): Does the Decent of Angels rule allow units that deep strike to assault the same turn?

Not sure there was an assault in the turn that the assault jump pack squads arrive.

Sorry about the photos on the other email, any pointers for the future to make it easier?

Thanks Purg for looking into this and A) taking the time to comment B) sharing with the community, I have yet another revision to the Loganwing list, I posted it up at YTTH 40k Forum, I have tweaked it quite a bit, Still have the mini-dstar same as above, which gives all my HQs a home, just not sure if its too many eggs in one basket. Also dropped all the SS/PF off of standard the 3 and added a Drop Pod with 5 Combi-Melta WG, I feel like I should re-think it and instead use cheaper GH with 2 Melta and a Combi-Melta in a Drop which can give me more numbers. But its a utility tool at the end the day, which I think is more reliable than a LS seeing as its a turn one on the board and I have more control on the DS location. I was also able to gain 3 LF with ML, so the list now has 20 Krak/Frag shots to allocate, and Logan will not be required to babysit them. I have given thought to the Logan Bomb, but not committing to it at this time. I like having 20 shots of anti-MEQ/MC/Transport popping.

So if you guys have sometime take a look at it at YTTH and post, or keep commenting on the lists above, cause my core meta is based on these two.

BTW I did build my Lone Wolves the past two nights and one looks boss!

I was able to get a 2k point game in with the Tau. I played a good buddy with his Chaos list he is trying to make work (poor guy).

Took Kharne and his Beserkers out turn 2 (DOW deployment, blah!). And wasted a 5 man termy squad once it DS in on the turned they arrived.

A lot of Kroot got fed to the Blood God, as well as my drones and piranhas. After turn 6 he had 5 Havocs, 1 Chaos Marine, and 4 Chosen.

YAY, for GW weekends!
