Haha I was imitating my mom's pixie cut as a kid when I did mine. But I was also a little tomboy and absolutely positive boys got to have more fun than girls (now a devoted Toastie obviously I soon developed my delightful sense of misandry which now guides my path), so being called a boy was never a downside. Plus I was a little shit who thought people's discomfort at misgendering me was HILARIOUS.

My stylist is amazing! She gives scalp massages and is always down to try something new with me and gives free bang trims and I will follow her to the ends of the earth. Also we discuss plot lines of our favorite comic book shows during my cuts. And there are always dogs running around the salon for petting.

Loved this!

I cut off my waist length hair in elementary school and got my first pixie. I was mistaken for a boy on more than one occasion, but young me thought it was absolutely hilarious, and definitely one of the pluses of the haircut. Ever since then, I get antsy if I have the same cut for more than a few months. I recently went back to a full pixie for the first time since elementary school. Now I can't remember why I ever grew it out. I love the feeling of only having an inch or so of hair on the back of my head. I love that it dries fast, that I can faux hawk it, and that the sides are super short. And fortunately, my stylist is just as enthusiastic about experimentally chopping my hair off as I am, bless her.

I knew, I KNEW that if I clicked on this and read it, it would haunt my nightmares. I've read Deerskin. I know the fairy tale. I do not doubt Mallory's ability to scar my soul. But I did it anyway.

I have no one to blame but myself.

All the hair on the back of my neck stood up when I saw Mallory was reworking the Red Hen. Turns out that was a completely accurate response.
Thanks for the lovely cup of morning trauma!

I have since made a vow to pass her badassery forward if I ever have the opportunity.

Bear with me, this is a long comment, but it contains both an awful plane man AND a badass old lady.

When I was in 8th grade, naive and unused to standing up for myself against awful menfolk, I went on a class field trip to DC. The return trip required air travel. I was in an aisle seat, and even then had beanpole long legs, so once we were up in the air, I had them stretched out a bit in the aisle. In the aisle seat in front of me was one of my classmates. He was an obnoxious pre-frat boy, who had spent the entire trip harassing his female classmates. He entertained himself this flight by reaching down and STROKING my ankles and shins whenever I stretched them in his vicinity, despite my several times telling him to stop.

Seated beside me was an older woman and her grandson.

Eventually, I got so annoyed and creeped out by the guy in front of me I threatened him with physical violence if he kept touching me. He of course thought this was hilarious. This caught the grandmother's attention, so I told her what was going on.

A few minutes later, she got up to go to the bathroom. When she came back, as she squeezed by me to get to her seat I heard a loud THWACK. I looked up to see the Stroker holding his head and bent double in his seat in pain. The little old lady looked at him coolly and told him to watch where he put his head. Then she sat down like the queen she was, and we had a lovely conversation about my schooling.

I attribute this moment to planting the first seeds of misandry and feminism in my soul.

I will admit to bias because I loved the Korra finale, but I didn't think it was subtle at all. I was shrieking in crazed glee as soon as they started walking towards the portal. When I dove into the internet on it later, someone pointed out that the scene mirrors the end scene between Katara and Aang in the old series, cutting out just before the kiss, and playing the same music. Someone on the Mary Sue pointed out the mountain backdrop was in the colors of the bisexual flag. I found it all pretty obvious.

Obviously I would have LOVED something more explicit, and I love that fans immediately made a version where they kiss. But I can also totally see Nick saying no to that. I guess the creators went to Nick, told them they wanted Korrasami, and Nick said okay, but vetoed a kiss. So it was all very intentional. It is only an inch forward, it's true. But I don't agree that it's after-the-fact confirmation. They made it as obvious as they were allowed, and then followed it up with explicit words just to make sure bi leads were canon.

Also, I totally shipped Korrasami, and I was sooo afraid they'd do a Mako (ew) hook up, and I was prepared to be happy with Korra ending up alone and they she was with Asami and it so surpassed my expectations. So again, biased commentary.

Dear god- were you sitting nearby when this happened to me? Also, well done. All the hair on the back of my neck went up in horror when you compared Steelheart to Divergent. If I had testicles, they would have crawled back up in my body.

I've had that happen- the guilt is the WORST. I'll try to furtively side eye the bus occupants occasionally now, to make sure I'm not freezing out an elderly person of a seat.
