Wow..global climate change at its worst. If the earth is getting warmer more water can be held in the atmosphere, creating more clouds and more sustained rains and flooding in certain areas, while other areas will have severe droughts. WONDERFUL..I can't wait for the catastrophes the following years will bring...I feel sorry for the farmers...and us.

Oh well it happens, there's more?? I am very sad when anything gets killed especially people, but you have to realize there are only 300,000 stellar lions in the world while there are over 6,813,600,000 people...ALMOST 7 BILLION PEOPLE.

Really when you come down to your statement...we shouldn't worry about people, because there are plenty more. I wouldn't want to think like that about sea lions or people.

Really? So you believe that the Earth should just be covered with humans only? 6.5 billion of us is not enough, we should just eat our way and bulldoze through the natural beauty that God has created and create suburban and city areas across the world? Good thing God spent all those years creating such diversity and life to watch us destroy it in 10,000 years.

Think about it in 1950, there was 2.55 billion people on the planet, now in 2009 there is 6.7 billion people on the planet. Not only that our population doesn't just multiply, it grows exponentially! How many people do you think there will be in 2050? And you think that the Earth can sustain a population that have couples having 19 KIDS, all with high chances of survival?!? Give me a break.

It is not just like the regular flu. It has different pieces. The Spanish flu in 1918 was also a H1N1 subtype and look how many it killed. It was estimated to have killed 50 million to 100 million. It also has other similiarities in which it originally showed up at the tail end of the flu season the year before, but then came back virulently and killed a lot of healthy and young adults.

Think about that it was about 2-5% of the world population at the time.

Not only that but it seems the older generation 70 and up have a natural immunity to this H1N1 virus because of their exposure to the 1918 flu strain.

I have 1 male dog and 2 girl dogs, and my mother has also had 2 boy dogs and it is NOT the same. Going on a walk the female dogs will do it before the end of the first block (sometimes before we passed the first house) and the boys are usually halfway through the walk. Sometimes I have to take longer walks because they had not done their duty, and I don't want to wake up at 2am in the morning to take them out. It's not sexist, it's true.

I don't think its the amount of people that Bush got killed in his war that I'm concerned with, but it is the reasoning behind how and why we are at war in Iraq that is the issue. Yes many more people died in the Civil War, WWI and WWII, but the reason behind those wars are much easier to get behind than the reason why we are in Iraq.

I agree we should look forward with hope and enthusiasm to tackle the issues that are before us. But just because George W Bush is behind us, doesn't mean we should forget all the harm he has done financially, environmentally, politically, and spiritually to this country.

We need to remember how it happened and how we let it happen so hopefully IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN...or is that too much to hope for?

There is a difference, and it's a common sense difference. You are comparing regular gay people with a homicidal dictator. Maybe if you were saying it was okay to be a pedophidal, rapist gay deacon, I would say that it would be okay to raise your children to hate all other races but your own and inbed them with all other types of nasty negative thoughts and activities from birth.

Please read the KGW story on July 6, 2008, http://www.kgw.com/news-local/stories/kgw_070608_...

The Wind Farms can curtail their energy generation, but nobody was there to answer the phone from the Bonneville Power Administration to do it. They didn't have to kill those fish, it was a mistake. Communication was key, and they didn't have it yet. Let's hope somebody is there to answer the phone next time there is a spike in power generation
