Is this what you're referring to? https://askthebigot.com/2015/07/23/the-story-of-m...

Because that is ... something else -- is probably the best way to describe it. Dang.

I'm so pumped that the toast and my reddit/r/relationships addiction have finally crossed over. The level of batshit insane drama on that sub make my workday so much more bearable. Did any of you toasties see this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/4...?

Huge asshole tries to prank his girlfriend into thinking he proposed! Weirdly, she's not into it! The comments are my life.

I read that and found it very depressing that Ted Cruz and I both apparently love the same pizza place (We the Pizza)

I JUST finished the last Elena Ferrante novel and my suggestion is that you just read it again once you've finished it because it was so. so. so. good.

Had to stop reading the PUA article to comment on this line: "But, said Jared, “Nobody reached out to us to say, ‘What do you need to heal, to be better men?’ "

Aww the poor little baby, nobody reached out to him?? Christ, what an asshole!

I know a friend of a friend who was conned in a similar way -- the guy obviously didn't tell her they were going to be married by the Pope, but instead that he had this super drama-filled life where he was an orphan who also somehow had lots of money, and he was going to buy them a house, and he worked for the government in a super special secret capacity and had a PhD in Physics and was in the army, and had cancer, and got hit with shrapnel while saving his friend's life and of course none of it ended up being true.

The thing is, as insane as it sounds when you hear it all laid out at once like that, he didn't tell us that stuff all in one meeting. Instead like, I was out to dinner with them and asked about his family and he said 'oh actually, I'm an orphan, I was in and out of the foster care system my whole life, and also it's a sensitive subject so I don't like talking about it' so then I felt kind of awkward and embarrassed and didn't press for details. And then a few months later we're talking and he tells me he had cancer while he was in the army, which, why wouldn't I believe that? Lots of people have cancer, and he wasn't asking me to drive him to the doctor or anything, you know? The seriously crazy stuff only comes out after you've invested months into a person and you've accepted their less crazy stories and you've learned to trust them in a million ways that aren't related to the central con. It was actually really easy to get sucked in.

Ahhhh I loved that piece. I mean, hated the guy for sure, want him to leave his wife, definitely, but also ... I just loved reading about it. My only coherent thought at the end was run Litia!!!

How about... "You have a random acquaintance who always looks perfect and always knows exactly what to say and is never awkward and never has a hair out of place and probably never poops even."

or

"That psychic you don't believe in was def right"

God I have such a love/hate relationship with Maeve Binchy. Each of her books are exactly the same except for the character's names and general plot outline.

I just read that review and it sounds, like, shockingly absurdly offensive. Like hilariously offensive. Like, this is a joke about cartoonishly ignorant execs in a heavy-handed movie offensive. Dang.
