I've never experience direct and blatant racism but indirect... definitely.

While living in Baltimore, I worked at a WIC clinic. One day, an older white woman brings in her bi-racial grandson. I pose a question about her grandson's diet and eating habits and she responds "Well, he really likes fried chicken. That's from his black side". I quickly finished up her appointment and escorted her out of my office. Later, I felt extremely sorry for the child when it dawned on me that he's probably subjected to comments like that all the time.

My favorite moments from the debate included:

-when Romney asked Obama if looked at his pension and he responded "I don't. It's not as big as yours so it does't take as long to look at";
- When Obama said Romney plans to pay for tax cuts with Big Bird and Planned Parenthood;
-When Obama called Romney's economic plan "a sketchy deal";
-when Black Twitter (and Facebook) went silent for a hot second after that black man basically asked President Obama "What have you done for me lately?".

My worst date: The guy invites me over to his place to watch the MMA fight. I ask him if he'd like me to bring anything and he requested a bottle of wine... "anything that's sweet", he said. I arrive at his place with the wine and he breaks out two plastic 7-Eleven cups because he doesn't own wine glasses (we're both in our early 30's if that puts it in perspective).

We have about 30 minutes before the fight comes on so he grabs his computer and begins telling me that one of his favorite pastimes is making YouTube videos. He then begins to play said YouTube videos which depicts him outside various sporting venues as he's interviewed by his friend and pretending to be a professional WWE wrestler; one video even included him fake body slamming a nearby heckler. He then tells me to wait a second because he has something to show me and then runs into his bedroom. When he emerges, he has a fake WWE wrestling belt draped across his shoulder and he explains how he just likes to walk around the house with it on from time to time.

At that point, it was time to excuse myself from the date.

Game of Thrones Books 1 thru 7 (currently on book #2). Reading this series, I obviously missed a whole lot while watching the HBO Show.

As a UCLA alum myself, my first reaction was "Say what now?!". Bottom line, UCLA admissions are very competitive and a 3.75 high school GPA (along with high SAT scores and lots of extracirricular activities) is not uncommon, yet UCLA isn't handing out merit-based scholarships to all these exceptional students (myself included).

But then I read that these were merit-based scholarships for athletes... yeah, that's a whole different ballgame. If Diddy's son returns the money, I'm 99% sure it isn't going to go to some needy student who couldn't attend college otherwise. It's going to go to another student athlete who parents also have the means to just write a check for tuition (they just aren't in the spotlight like Diddy). So I say he earned it, he keeps it.

Oh, these women knew about these children! If you refer to the original story in 2009, he had 21 children by 11 women; 3 years later, he has 30 children by 11 women. So, these same women who knew about his trifling ways went on ahead and birthed 9 more babies for him! That makes them flat out stupid and they should get no sympathy from anyone!

I agree witth the OP wholeheartedly. I had the opportunity to ride the subway in Barcelona last year. Without knowing a lick of Spanish, I was able to make it to my destination without any assistance. The ticket kiosk are touch screen and the home screen allows you to pick the appropriate language. The train platform has a PID that counts down (in minutes and seconds!) the arrival of the next train and wouldn't you know it, that train was exactly on time! The train car is well lit, has bench style seating, no carpeted floors and (gasp!) you can walk from one train car to the other via the accordian-like connections between trains. It was amazing! It definitely put WMATA to shame!
