"Humiliation is not a tool for teaching..."

BULL****! Humiliation is a wonderful tool. There is a time and a place, certainly, but this situation is truly appropriate.

Besides, isn't it humiliating to his parents to have put all that effort in just to raise a delinquent?? Don't criminals get glorified, especially among teenagers? Someone has to show this kid the shame he causes!

Every time I see Jean Twenge named in an article, I roll my eyes..

Her entire academic career has been built around trashing my generation; that's it. I know a lot of folks don't like us, and I know a lot of us deserve it (some folks even draw my ire... but I was also born in the earliest years of my generation too). But still, Dr. Twenge needs to get a life and add some diversification to her skewed and one-note research.

Give us a chance, please try to teach us. The vast majority of us want to learn, but sometimes it seems that the older generations are so stuck on us being worthless. Don't believe what the news and Dr. Twenge tells you to believe about us.

Quite true. I was thinking about firewall damage right after posting that. That kinda damage is a doozie to fix! I also thought this was a 172 initially but looking closer, that's a 150! (although I see an exhaust stack on the right, which a 152 has because of the Lycoming engine on that model... but there could be one on the left as well like a 150, but the left is obscured by crud) Goes to show that they all look the same underneath!

Where are these dime a dozen wings? I'm a few years into maintenance but I haven't gotten to replace an entire wing yet. In my experience we always took them apart, but I was also working on a fleet, not a personal aircraft.

Exactly.
1) Sudden stoppage engine inspection (which in reality would probably just result in an overhaul exchange with the manufacturer which is still super expensive)
2) Probably windshield cracked under the airplane weight. Those are pricey too. I can't remember how much they cost the last time I replaced a Cessna windshield, but it was up there.
3) I imagine most of the front spar survived. The outer front spar probably got damaged as the airplane flipped, however.
4) Front wing skin is probably damaged, as well as most of the frontal ribs, which will also cost a pretty penny to replace.
5) Frontal upper cowl is damaged, and those are pricey.
6) And, of course, the propeller will probably need to be replaced.

I would say if the engine is simply inspected (which still requires a complete teardown to remove and inspect the crankshaft: $22,000. If the engine is older and replacement is more cost effective, you're looking at about $30-35k. Either way, if this guy wants his money's worth out of the airplane, he'll have to hold onto it for a while now. Quite painful in this economy.

Man, thinking about this makes me really miss working GA. After going to the airlines, I've gained skill and confidence as an airplane mechanic, but I sure miss jobs like these... A few months' work and a big project to boot that you know will look fantasic when you're finished with it!

Holy Paul Sheldon, Batman!

They had better check her house for any crippled dime novel writers with their legs broken. This is shaping up like a certain movie/book!

Finally! A candidate that makes sense! I encourage all in Portland to vote for this man! I would cast 100 ballots for him if I could, but I live 30 minutes to the south. That photo would also make a fantastic campaign pin!

Sarcasm aside, how would he stack up against Adams?

Well, what are we going to do?

I also hate hearing about how worthless by association that I am. Sometimes it's hard to walk away and let it all go. All this said by people stealing the rug out from under my feet; the people who blame us for an economic downturn and two wars that started before most of us could even vote.

I'm tired from looking forward to a hopeless future. There's no atom bomb, no overpopulation, no runaway greenhouse effect to seal our doom. Instead it's our lives that are going to be the death of us.

So, what are we going to do?

And no, I'm not implying occupy Wall Street. Something more effective needs to be done because this current system is heading to crash.
