It was a series the BBC did back in January...a mash-up of different characters and novels. The Miss Havisham storyline was sad...and it was so awful *knowing* what was coming. More details here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06vbmfq

Lovely typefaces, I must say.

The girly sleepover in Grease was the best thing ever when I first saw it, aged 13. Oh how I enjoyed their mocking "Look at me I'm Sandra Dee" song - I was so with the "lousy with virginity" line and was delighted that those cool 50s girls got it too. But then I felt really sad and guilty about having laughed at the point when Sandy came in: "are you making fun of me?"
And then Rizzo climbed out of the window to get up to no good with Kenickie, and I thought to myself, yay, I would totally do that.
I'm really glad that my daughters are less of a handful than I was. My poor parents.

I love dear old Bradley for loving Emilia. That other loyal female friend in Shakespeare, Paulina, has too often been given the old "shut up and go home" treatment by critics...this is, for example, how Cliffnotes describes her character : "A loyal lady-in-waiting to Hermione, she voices the conscience of Leontes in an irritating and scolding tone."
In other words, she defends her horribly wronged friend with magnificent and righteous anger.

Falling in love with Cassio was obligatory if you saw him played, as I was fortunate enough to do, by Tom Hiddleston. In that production, Emilia was played - magnificently - by Michelle Fairley, aka Catelyn Stark. And Othello was Chiwitel Eijofor. Oh my, it was almost *too* good.
