wow yes. I've been s l o w l y coming to this realization myself the last several years with my own father and it's difficult and painful and upsetting, but ultimately there really is a freedom and peace that comes with accepting him for who is actually is rather than being constantly upset that he wasn't and will never be the father I needed/deserved. this part of the episode and the relationship between Michael and Sarek really hit me HARD. damn, Disco. who gave you permission to do this to me??

(also i love that they have shirts that say DISCO on them! so cute!! I want one.)

When Lorca played that distress call over the whole ship...I can't even think of the right words for my reaction. He's such an interesting character. And the character work on this show overall is super compelling. They've really given us a lot of development already, and I'm really digging it, and looking forward to what's next. I want MORE MORE MORE about basically everyone.

And I didn't get to make this comment on the first episode, but I wanted to say something to Mark about this being the last show. This is the first Trek that I haven't watched previously, so I don't really know what's going to happen, and watching it for the first time with you, Mark, is so much fun. I did it with Jane the Virgin and really enjoyed that experience, and I'm glad I get to do it one more time. And then I'll have these videos to watch and rewatch in the future, just like I do with so many of your past shows. I've gotten to a point where I can't watch certain shows without also watching your videos, most especially with The West Wing and The Good Place. And even though most of my experience with Mark Watches and Mark Reads has been as a lurker who has never gotten super involved in the community, I still feel like I'm watching shows I love with a friend, and that's something I'm going to carry with me through these videos long after you finish. Thank you for that, truly.

Is it just me, or does anyone else kind of automatically have at least a slight distrust of any character Jason Isaacs plays because of Lucius Malfoy?? And I don't mean that to pigeon hole him into one thing, he's a great actor and I know he can do so much more than Lucius, but it is still the first place my mind goes when I see him for the first time in something new. Sometimes, the character proves me wrong, and sometimes it proves me right. In this case, I'm definitely getting an ongoing untrustworthy vibe.
