Great post, Tyler, on a critically important topic for leaders. For those who are interested in digging deeper, there's also a helpful book on this subject that I often recommend to the leaders I work with: Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership by Gary Mcintosh and Samuel Rima. Great question! And I'll toss out a provoking question in response:

How did Jesus embody these traits in a culture that was probably counter to his status quo? And on whose authority did he do it?

Oh wait. That's two questions. :) Ha!

Truly though, it's a courageous choice to operate in the opposite spirit of a toxic work culture, and I think requires not only great intentionality but also a fair bit of tenacity. You have to choose to not be reactive in an environment where that's what's everyone else is doing all the time. Talk about provoking! But it can breath life into an otherwise stale and fearful room.
