Yea, does anyone have a link to an archive?

I've built a deck, played at the premiere and prerelease event, but now I've got no one left to play with! I'm really looking forward to getting to play some more.

Right, here is what we know:

"Star Swirl the Bearded is a character first mentioned by Twilight Sparkle in Luna Eclipsed as "the most important conjurer of the pre-classical era." We know that luna recognized the costume, but that doesn't mean she knew him personally, only that she knows what he looks like.

In Hearth's Warming Eve, which predates the era of the royal pony sisters and the founding of Equestria, he is the mentor of Clover the Clever, which implies he's already somewhat old and wise at this point. The exact wording is "Once upon a time, long before the peaceful rule of Celestia, and before ponies discovered our beautiful land of Equestria"

In It's About Time, we learn that he not only has a shelf named after him, but an entire wing in the library, and that the wing contains time spells and is "the most secure section of the archives".

"At the end of The Crystal Empire - Part 2, Princess Luna summons a spiral-bound book that has a dark cover which shows two stars and a swirly pattern. In Magical Mystery Cure, a flashback shows the book having been mailed to Twilight in a package with a letter from Princess Celestia. The letter states that the last page of the book contains Star Swirl's "secret unfinished masterpiece", an abandoned spell which he was never able to get right. When Twilight finally fixes the spell Princess Celestia states that Twilight accomplished what even Star Swirl could not, because he did not understand friendship like Twilight does."

And that's the end of what we know. Everything else is nothing more than speculation. We know for a fact he lived before the "peaceful rule of Celestia, but without knowing how old Celestia was when she took power, or how long he lived for, we have no way of knowing if they ever met. We do know that we was an accomplished spellcaster, and that there is such a thing as an "age spell", so there is the possibility that he lived a really long time. Maybe the age spell isn't perfect though, perhaps every time he brought himself back from the brink of death, a little less of him returned. After living for a thousand plus years, perhaps he started going insane. Not understanding the magic of friendship, of unity, of harmony, perhaps he edged towards another powerful force, chaos. We know he failed to become an alicorn because he didn't understand the magic of friendship, which is implied to be synonymous with harmony. The opposite of harmony is chaos.
