Networks always track ratings, and the New Presidents always has people tracking who is watching what. Not for anything shady I believe, but because he needs to figure out what language the people are listenting to for persuasion purposes. During the period he wanted a stimulus bill he spoke doom and gloom, because that is what he needed to get support. Now his rhetoric is more positive because he has seen rating shift to news shows and programming that do not ALWAYS portray him favorably and he has started using the rhetoric more similar to that heard on those networks/shows. Were Lenos' ratings to go down that night he is to be on, that would send a very clear message that the people are not buying what he is selling us. (forcing down our throats) The intended effect being to slow the leaps towards socialism to a more manageable pace, easier to track and halt. Above all, he is a narcissist and needs to know his ideas are being accepted. This would be a prime opprtunity to send a fast and effective message.
Want to send a quick and easy message? Get as many folks as you can to turn off
Leno the night Barack is on. It is something easy you all can do,
and it appears that one very quick way into Obama and his administrations
heads are to drop and/or affect his ratings. Apparently they pay attention to that.
